    It does say that the spike height is adjustable. My questions is this. Are they adjusted by twisting the three chrome looking knobs on top of the bottom plate, or are the spikes completely separate from that and adjusted from under the bottom plate?

    Also, I take it that the support columns can be filled for more weight and resonance control?

    According to the reviews it can be filled thru the tiny bolts holes which is normal.... Takes a long time, drilling a small hole on top on a corner would speed it up to allow air to vent out

    Let’s see not today but about 12 months ago or so I switched out my old Denon DL-110 on my workhorse Technics SL1200mk5 on my downstairs AV system to a AT VM740ML and it’s freaking across the board blown away after a suggestion from my Uncle (who is a big audiophile himself ) he always felt the AT’s have a bit more detail and crispness. It does — but it’s not overdone !! Love it. !!

    My next project when I am feeling better (been sick these last few months) getting there though —- is to replace my Denon DL301 mkii workhorse LOMC which has been
    my reference since 2022…on my upstairs Audio only system — on my MIJ Technics SL1200G that I purchased back in 2020.
    After much research I beleive the new AT VM745xml is a giant killer of a cart and will match nicely to my 1200G and Parasound JC3 jr. I think it be nice , and I am ready for some AT on the upstairs system. I love listening to all my jazz and rock original and audiophile LPs :) upstairs system has the Polk L200s.

    Just my .02.!! Hope everyone is having fun times with your system(s)

    It was a slow day here today and my curiosity got the best of me. So I swapped out my big block Mac's for a pair of Fosi class d amps with the 3255 chips for an afternoon of fun.

    They surprised me. I thought for sure they'd fall flat on their faces so to speak but they did not. Will they be replacing the Mac's? Not a chance. I'll admit though I was very surprised by a pair of amps controlling all those drivers that cost half the price of the MIT S1 shotgun interconnects they were hooked up to.

    Depends on the Class D. Not all are hot up high. Some are actually softer/warmer than a typical AB.

    I wouldn't say it's hot per say... But if you compare them to a very nice class a or class ab amp... It just doesn't come close in fleshing out the same experience

    Tom, My current setup vs previous...but there are other D amps that are highly praised for their smooth sound.

    Trey, I have to disagree. It is all about synergy and you can find the right match with Class D. I'll admit a good single ended amp usually sounds better to my ears, but I live in the deep South and I don't like to add heat to my room. It's a trade-off I'll make...those usually don't make enough power for my needs anyway unless you get into a 50000 BTU Krell KSA or similar.

    What I found in my little experiment is my tiny amps were light in the bass but I couldn't find a problem with their top end. I really was amazed they had the control over all the drivers that they did. I let them play all afternoon and for one side of Joe Bonamassa's live at Royal Albert Hall I played them as loud as they'd go. They imaged 3' to the sides of the boxes. forward of the speakers at times, weren't fatiguing, showed no sign of stress or any other issues and didn't get hot. No the kick drums didn't have the impact they normally do but I didn't expect they would. In their defense these puny amps cost me less than $200, drive a much easier load daily and sound very good in the process. Class d 3255 chip amps have come a long way quickly.

    With that being said the brutish Mac's with their 200 amps of current are still secure in their position and I won't be revisiting this comparison. This was nothing more than an experiment out of boredom. In all honesty I was hoping the little amps would fail the experiment but alas they did not.

    Nice, are those Fosi's PFFB-3255 amps?

    Yes they are the PFFB v3's. They also have upgraded op amps (not Sparkos) and share the same 48 volt ps with the Fosi dc blocker.
    I was really hoping they'd be as far apart soundwise from the Mac's as their difference in size and basic specs would suggest.

    Yes the dreadnaught is in place. The Fosi's normal load is 2 pair of IMF supercompacts wired in parallel which they are a great match for. I figured for sure they'd puke out driving the 1.2tls and maybe even go into protection mode at max volume. I was wrong; not a hint of distress or bad sound all afternoon. But now that I know that there's no need to revisit that experiment. The Mac's are safe in their spot especially since I can no longer lift them alone

    One more important note is those monoblocks can take their own separate 48V,5A power supplies. Should give more bottom end oomph. Still impressive results none the less.

    Two weeks ago I picked up a pair of Red Dragon Audio M500’s. I still have the Aric Audio Motherlode II,and they are driving my Nola Boxer 2’s. This is my first taste of class D. They are older ice technology,but I’m really enjoying them. Yesterday I ordered a pair of SVS 3000 Micros. I’ll see if they will stay in the main listening room,or go into the Pit,the secondary system.

    If at all possible, you may want to entertain losing the loop(s), as you have created an antenna that attracts both EMI and RFI.

    I.E. - Unwanted noise.
