Yeah I heard similar comments about the clicking. You gonna keep it?

The only relay clicking commentary I came across in my pretty thorough search was in regards to the normal operational relay clicks that happen when playing and stopping. Didn't see anyone else discussing random relay clicks while the unit was powered off.

I don't have any plans to sell it, to answer your question. It's not hooked up at the moment though since I had been using a different player for a while. Waiting on a preamp currently, so once my system is back up and running I'll get it back into the mix with the new Siemens tubes.

This mod has me intrigued. Kinda like Toolfan's Oppo mod, but back in the day for the Marantz. Keep us posted!

What preamp are you waiting on Drew?

Tubes from Brent Jessee have arrived:

Well it only took me a year, but I finally listened to the player with these tubes today! Enjoyed what I heard. It seemed to take the things I already liked about the player with the other tubes and bolster them. Lots of midrange texture, vocals forward in the soundstage, good bass, plenty of detail, and an organic presentation overall. Very nice.

Very cool. I have the lower version of the Njoe, haven't done a thing with it other than pop the hood. Upstairs in the spare room, love it!

Great to know to this older player still stands the test of time. Says a lot about its engineering.

It started off life as a Marantz. I believe the only mod was the addition of the tube output stage.
