Great post John! This Forum has done a lot to advance my audio journey. A lot of people here have given me great advice, I bought and sold gear, and made many friends, I have been to 3 or 4 Polkfests, been at Polk HQ and I have visited several people in their home all over the country. I don't post nearly as much as I use to do. That's not because I dislike Vanilla or have been bullied by trolls. I visit here often and enjoy the conversations, friends and I can always learn something new or make a new friend. Long live Club Polk!

This place is beyond tame compared to what it used to be.

Amen to that, yet another point myself and many others have made. In this touchy feely world of today, even the forum as it stands today is "offensive" to some. Back in the earlier days of the forum, it might have sent many to their safe spaces, and fork out some coin for psych care.

.....but it was fun, entertaining, and informative.

That is not very comforting! So "this place" used to be a 30 acre food fight and now it is only a 20 acre food fight? Thanks for your candor about what a mess this place was. I've read thru some of the older threads and then compared to now seems about the same to me. But I only went back as far as 2009, maybe there was more mayhem before 2009.

I've added in italics the portion of your post many people may take offense to, myself included.

I am hoping by pointing out what SPECIFICALLY someone might take offense to, that in the future you may avoid that type of phrasing, assuming your intent is not to try and get a rise out of forum members/membership.

If you are trying to troll, then your passive aggressive post does indeed work well toward that end.

I came at the end of that era, the likes of TroyD, Doro, Lou, Russman etc were still around.

Lot's of humor and cutting up, it wasn't hard to fit in and was a blast. Besides the knocking off they were true enthusiasts and a lot of help and knowledge

I had a lot of questions back then (still do), but several had no problems reaching out to me privately for helping hand, and I didn't even ask for it.

For those that needed help one of the first questions that the old timers would ask is where you were located, to see if one of them were local to give hands on help

The reason many times these gent's seem aggressive about telling you what works best, is because they used to rip their stuff apart times over experimenting, exposing the good, the bad and the ugly....so those that get that bitter beer face when told what's best, just listen. These roads have already been traveled and can save you a lot of suffering.

Anyway miss those guys, still love the community

    ---Cheers

I'll add one more thing. Audio is great for get together's even just a couple people.
Have always been told "hey stop on by if you're in the area" and "your always welcome"

These are great opportunities for friendship and knowledge

It's not like there are always a neighbor with the audio interests.

Take advantage of gtg when you can, even a meet up at the show, great way to break the ice

Doro was a hoot, TroyD told it like it is like it or not. Russman while i remember nothing comes to mind that sticks out. I too have been here since 2009, i remember looking at old threads and seeing the who's who of corporate Polk and they too could tell it like it was as well. Those who want to morph into what it never was have no clue.

You're absolutely correct. I realized that I was the new guy, used some humility, and assumed that I would have to earn the respect of those already here. I felt welcomed and everyone was happy to help.

    PC - No, screw that.

My last comment is that perhaps when you discover that everyone on a given forum, this or otherwise, has a problem with you, and that one fact is the only common thread weaving all the users together, perhaps the issue doesn't lie with them, but in some behavior you continue to repeat.
