Have one on the way.... Inside the driver's door opening, you can tell where someone at the factory went nuts with a buffer because the entire inside of the jamb is caked with compound residue. The scratches on the hood are very subtle, and the scratches on the door are just deep enough to need a respray. The underbody shows no rust, at least as I would describe it, but there is the type of oxidation you expect to see when aluminum is exposed to the elements. This can even be found on some components under the hood, such as the intake.

Perhaps I am expecting far too much from the car, but I did drive it around the block, and all I can say is HOLY F...................................................................

This thing is FAST, and DANGEROUS if you do not respect what this wild animal can do, and will do if you don't know what you are doing. You can have a grin like the Joker, or a couple shillings placed on your eyelids to give St. Peter when you meet him.

How much do those tires run? I'd be scared to find out. I just took off my snow tires and put summer tires on, my set of summer tires were done. $58 a tire brand new, most expensive ones they had. :D

Extra room for when you stomp on it and the rear end squats down?

Good theory, Google up classic Gasser Dragsters, they sit rather high on the axles. I'd surmise this to gain the most weight shift to the rear axle to provide as much traction as possible at launch.

That is exactly right. This car transfers weight to the rear like no other factory car ever has. The car seems very compliant and easy to drive if you use featherweight pedal application, but if you think you can just drive it like a regular car and push the gas pedal like you would in a regular car, it will get away from you faster than you can blink.

Not sure yet what direction it will take. The wife and I are going tommorow to see it in direct sunlight. The hood cannot be corrected without being painted. I also learned my car was one of the units that had rear main seal issues, which explains the nearly three month delay from build date to ship date.

    Absolutely.

What does this imbroglio say about FCA? To my way of thinking, it's nigh-on unbelievable they could eff up something like this. I mean, do they do better or worse when you buy a 500?

    :(

IMHO, any kind of paint work will ruin its value. If your goal is to keep it low mileage & pristine to resell some time down the road, bail.

Not that my opinions matter one whit in this context, but I think that's an excellent point.

As I recall, a key part of the strategy was to buy the vehicle as an investment (not that I can find direct reference to that in the early posts in this thread from the OP). The investment potential of this particular vehicle may well be compromised, perhaps significantly, given the vagaries of the rarefied, high-end collectors' market.

FCA is abysmal. I love the new Alfa's, but since FCA is involved, I'll never take a chance unless the track record magically gets a whole lot better over a long period of time.

Have owned Dodge since the 80's and never a problem and never left stranded....a combo of Rams, Dakotas, Wranglers and now a challenger which is a 707 hp daily driver that delivers lots of smiles with every mile, now the fit and finish on the wife's Ford is a whole nuther story..............

I love my JGC...I hate dealing with FCA on ANYTHING.
Example, earlier this week I took my Jeep in for an oil change. When I got home, I went to change the brakes on it and noticed the access panel in the skid plate for the oil plug was missing.
So I shot a text to my buddy at the dealer (he's the parts manager).
He said he found it in the trash next to the oil tech's station. When I asked WTF?, he sent me the following screenshot:
    9matzp4d0yft.jpg

So apparently, even though mine had one, it is not wanted/needed/blah blah blah.
    FCA...lol

Well -- On the bright side, they were able to explain why it wasn't there! :|

    Reminds me of this:

All brands are going to have their issues. Lead times and product developments and gov't regs means a much shorter life cycle and many times the early production models are the guinea pigs...............

But from what I've seen reported FCA is the terrible overall. Ever since FIAT and Marccione took over they have been much worse than before.

Full transparency, I've never owned a Chrysler product. Just going on what I read and what friends. family, co-workers and acquaintances and workers at the plant have experienced.

I don't want to turn this into an automobile war thread, it was simply an observation. For what the Demon is and what it costs, this type of thing is inexcusable.
