    But... against the zip cord, the sound was more real, more palpable, better focus and imaging, warmer as well. It was interesting to hear, I could tell from the first few seconds and I went back and forth a few times, and I said...

    Thanks, Joey. Turn that frown upside down. It's a good thing to get better sound.

    You might again be surprised if you were to try @WagnerRC's Acoustic Zen's or Skip's WW's. But IMO, you could save yourself a lot of time and aggravation by going as high on this MIT list as you comfortably can. Then work on power if you haven't already. :#:)

    joey, at this point i would not go through a dealer as they tend to direct you towards what they sell.
    i highly suggest you take advantage of https://www.thecableco.com/ . you can ask what others with your equipment are using and get several cables at a time from them to demo. reach out to friends to bring over some cables.....hint, hint.
    i would look into cables that have been out for a while, not the flavor of the month.

    I guess that it is something that is noticeable at your level of gear more so than someone using them with an AVR but I wonder why that is. I mean, if they make a difference, then they should make a difference. I can't afford the high dollar cables so I will admire from afar until I can afford to try some out in my set up.

    Given the loyal following on this forum behind MIT, those would be tops on my list of what to try. I am intrigued by WW cables as well. But, at this point, it's something for down the road / with which I look forward to experimenting.

    With the prices being up to 75% off at MIT clearance, it would be a no brainer to step into at least some magnums for not a lot of cash. And they sound verrrry good, and if you didn't like them you could easily get your money back on them. Mine required a super lengthy break in though.

    So far I finally unplugged my cheapos and plugged in the OAKs for a listening session.

    To be sure it wasn't placebo, I switched between my wire and the OAKs a few times to make sure I was hearing what I thought I was hearing, kept it volume matched, and ran through familiar material.

    Uh yeah. Very impressive.

    And I'm only on Classe. Haven't moved to Boulder.

    The thing I noticed first was lack of fuzz around voices. Better palpability and more projectile energy... These new speakers are very sensitive apparently... Superb.

    Yes. Check out The Cable Company's lending program. There are lots of cables out there. Some are based on bling appeal. Others on science and engineering. I prefer Shunyata since their technology, engineering, and patents are explained on their web-site, versus marketing hoo-haa from other vendors. TOL performance at real world prices for both cables and power conditioners.

    Why are you stopping after 1 brand? I have nothing against AQ, but you really owe it to yourself to try some equivalent MIT's and a few other brands.

    It's like driving a Hyundai for years and then taking a test drive in a Mercedes and proclaiming "this is it" where do I sign. You should try BMW, Jaguar, Tesla, Porsche, etc to be sure you are making the "right" choice.

    Cable brands are like gear brands, each has a signature house sound but varies a bit by series within the brand. I would try a few different brands to see which floats your boat the best, gels the best with your gear.

    Not sure if I will stop here. I guess I've been such an anti cable for so long, I was hoping I was right.

    I like the AQ sound... Atleast with these speakers. It moves towards the direction I like. I was working on repositioning them because I wasn't getting the focus I wanted but just putting in these cables and I was in business.

    I will audition more but I doubt I'd go too many to honestly avoid analysis paralysis which I am prone to.

    1. Straight switch and repeating the song.
    2. Volume matching so as to not fall for the trap that louder is better.
