I spent an entire 2 weeks off on Xmas getting my focals positioned, I had to tape the floor just in case. And to be honest after fiddling with cables, a new pre, room treatments, and way too much money on tubes, I've got it sounding really, really good. Played some black keys the other night for a friend after some crown and cokes. All he said was... Whoa... And tomorrow comes another upgrade for the long weekend. I'm happy with the way it sounds right now but I can't stop. This hobby is more expensive than drugs! (I think). For me it is a drug, and I love it!

Nothing wrong with radio shack's finest lamp cord or Monoprice-NimbusTM-2-Conductor-CMP-Rated-Speaker if you want to get fancy. :)

Are you going to setup some little blocks of wood on carpet sliders to make it easier to ease placement?

    Yes... Need some sliders

    Why?

Make Emma move them for you...

    She is against me nowadays.

She tried to poke them with a stick

    No longer a trusty compadre

And she licked the Boulder dang it

She licked it only because she saw you hugging and kissing it... sheesh cut the young girl some slack.

Will invite once it is set. I've been so busy I couldn't even hang up the panels... Sheesh.

I need to get the sound to where I like it first before the invites go out

Wait, I'm confused. What's the Plinius pairing with if you already have the Boulder paired to something? Your sig shows Classe monoblocks. Who's staying and who's going?

    Boulder will stay.

Classe and plinius will duke it out.

Emm labs Dac2x is very good, less "hash", better palpability and better density. It was an easy comparison because I could hook both the Dac2x and the Cary 306 at the same time and just switched from XLR1 to XLR2 on the Cary preamp and repeat.

Consistently the same through several tracks through the boulder and the rockports. Even when I left to check on something with my wife or the kid and went back to the room, I could tell which one was playing at that time.

A little more recessed however, less "pizzazz" on the Emm Labs DAC2x... more controlled, and more ? analog ? is a good word.

Problem is... I like pizzaz... haha.

Personally Joey, I don't know how you can evaluate gear of that caliber with zip cord in the mix. Hash is not a word I would associate with the 306 either. Get some decent IC's and speaker cables in there and reevaluate before kicking stuff to the curb. Just my .02.

I know I'm parroting what others have said, but it's hard to swallow your thoughts on all that nice gear you've rolled.

Doubt the delta between 2 components on the same cheapo cords would be any different. The comparison between the two is fair if not one uses premium cabling and the other doesn't.

I heard what I heard and it was extremely easy to tell which is which. Now install premium cords and both will still have a degree of delta. I think the emm is a better unit.

My thoughts on premium cables is that they help the sound and tweak it.

You have to understand that this will costs a lot to get some really good ones to suit a particular system. I would be doing myself a disservice if I spent so much on wire and cords on an incomplete system only to have to swap them out for something else. Best for me to get everything where I want then getting wire in when it's ready.

It ain't going to change the overall foundation of the sound. The tone and overall last degrees of emotion conveyed might be different, but the sound will still be that of BW or Rockport.

Oh yes will do. I have no doubt it will improve the sound. But there's synergy, etc to think about. Not easy to do.

I'll prob hit up skip and borrow some of his beforehand

Your worried about having to swap out cables ?? Dude, the amps and speakers you've swapped out is way, way more coinage.....and you don't lose a wink of sleep over that. Just sayin'....kinda scratchin' my head over here.....which is better than what I usually scratch.
