    Finally plugged them in. All drivers work.

    Still tweaking the position.

    First tried the Classe then the Boulder. Plinius is downstairs so I gotta lug that up.

    First impressions are pretty good. Very natural sounding. Overall lot of work to do.

    Need to hang up my panels...

    Thanks Mikey... Need to keep playing with positioning. Seems more dependent on positioning than my 802d2.

    I would say they sound better than the Strads in my room.

    I have to get used to this sound, maybe I'm sued to the bowers sound too much. I know bowers is known to be bright and amusical but I got it sounding really really good in my system... But figured it was time to change it up and see what else was out there. And if I didn't like it, then there's always the D3 to fall back to.

    But yes, contrary to popular belief, the 802d2 sounded so good (for the price) at the final system configuration, before I broke it up.

    The guy came to listen. He and his wife came. They both were in there for 2 hours. After he listened he said we had a deal and he bought it. Initially he was going to wait until Saturday for delivery (it was a Thursday), but he texted me that night that he was coming on Friday to pick them up.

    After, he said that he liked the system so much he wanted to copy it. So he ended up spending an absurd amount of money because of the high that he got with my 802d2 system. He literally went berserk.

    Today he went to the local dealer where they had the audio research 5se preamp that we had on hold... And he went to check it out and listen to it. They had him hooked to the Wilson Sasha 2 and then onto a full dagostino Wilson Alexia set up.

    At the end of the day, he calls me up and says.

    "The only reason I ended up going bats*** crazy and spent literally $30,000 in 2 weeks was because I heard your system. If I had just only heard the system at audio concepts, I would go back home and not change a thing about my old system. It was like I was on a high... Like on drugs but not. It was very surreal."

    Moral of the story:

    Audio is a journey. It's a way to learn more about what makes you tick, it allows you to meet others along the way, it also tests your ability to put together a system based on limits (budget, room, etc).

    I felt like I built a good system with the 802d2, but wanted to see if the Rockports would take me to that special place... And if not then the 802d3 will take me there.

    It didn't happen with the Stradivari... As good as it was. My room was just too small to handle that speaker, maybe if it was longer and slightly wider we would be good. It's not a reflection of the speaker but of the limits of my own system. So it had to go.

    Right now, I am glad I got these Rockports... I just need time to recalibrate my ears and brain.

    But it does sound good.

    More natural than the 802d2.

    Very position dependent. I'm having to use the masters set up on this one... It'll take me a week to get it right and it'll still
