Laserdisc-The godfather of ALL consumer optical disc media

Audio has always been far more important to me than video resolution for making me feel like I am really there etc. HD is nice for sports but I rarely care much about any sports these days. My friend gave me a Firestick loaded with KOBI so I get get most films and TV programs for free via the internet. HD capable too. When freedom is outlawed, only outlaws are free...

I've seen some AMAZING pictures coming off of Lasers on CRT projectors that were being upconverted back in the day.
I did too...but what was our frame of reference? I even used to think DVDs looked good (on a CRT). UHD/HDR/WCG on OLED is the new AMAZING...

Some prefer the video and some prefer the audio.I think that they both work in concert to make the experience better.
I LOVE my High definition and want to move to the Ultra HD when I'm able. However I ain't gettin rid`o my Lasers any time soon!
I just had another interesting experience with my audio coming from my DVL-91
For some reason the DVL-919/91 will not pass DTS bitstreams properly through my Meridian 519 RF demodulator.Same goes for the audio from a DVD. I never had this issue with the DVL-700/90. So If I want to play a DTS CD I have to connect a digital cable that bypasses the Meridian. So once the DTS CD is done playing I pop in a stereo CD and after it has been playing for a minute I remember it is playing through the bypass cable. So while the song is playing I bend over the preamp and disconnect it (*DON"T try this at home boys and girls*) While I'm bent over the preamp there is a very short mute while it relocks onto the signal coming from the Meridian and I suddenly hear more bass (*quantity, slam and definition*) Again I hear this WHILE I'M BENT OVER THE PREAMP.
Once again the reclocking circuit in the Meridian has proven it's merits! -
I have app. 86 discs to sell, the pio player sold in less than no time, gotta get these on the market now.

It's a waste of time trying to sell LaserDiscs. If there is anyone near Allentown, I have a broken Pioneer LD player and about 75 LaserDiscs for whoever wants them. Send me a PM. Titles were listed earlier in the thread. -
Just snagged these for under twenty bucks at a used record store -
Sup HA? Did you drive to Allentown to snap those LD gatecrasher?
-
Nope
As I said above it was from a used record store in Fairfax,VA.

At least you got the AC-3 version (and not the older "Dolby Stereo").

You guys will like this: I pulled out my Optima HD65 projector and connected my LD player via a 25 foot S-Video cable (quite pricey back in the day) to compare the Criterion Blade Runner LD to the Blade Runner: Final Cut DVD (not Blu-Ray)...and they looked quite similar on a 92 inch screen. Don't know if that's good/bad for the LD/DVD, but what do you expect from a 480i source up-converted to 720p? I basically haven't used my projector since I got my OLED TV, and there's no way to use the S-Video out of the LD player since my AVR only has composite (and HDMI) inputs. I guess I was pleasantly surprised the colors held up pretty well via S-Video, and I didn't think the picture was any softer than what was up-converted by the AVR and sent via HDMI. Bottom line: I would probably watch an LD using the projector (via S-Video) again since it looks no worse than what it does on the TV. Make sense?Yamaha RX-A2050 AVR (5.0.2); LG OLED77C2 4K TV(4) Polk Monitor 10B's w/SoniCaps, Mills, and RDO-194 tweets (R/L F/R)(2) Polk RC80i (Top Middle)Polk CS300 center channelAnalog: B&O TX2 Turntable, Nakamichi Cassette Deck 1Digital: Pioneer CLD-99 Elite LD, Panasonic DMP-UB900 UHD Blu-RayBedroom: Arylic Up2Stream AMPv3 driving Polk Monitor 4's w/peerless tweets

That's not surprising if it's being upconverted. Try it without the upconversion and see if you see a difference.
DVD only had about 50 more lines of resolution than Laserdisc IF that much. -

Don't know which "up-conversion" you're talking about, but the projector is 720p...so it is what it is. Also, I only have HDMI and S-Video runs to the projector, so I can't bypass the AVR (LD obviously doesn't have HDMI).
I basically proved that LD ~ DVD (at least on a 720p projector).

Actually I think the correct term is "scaling". The projector is scaling the picture to 720p It's native resolution from 425 or 480i.

This one is the only one of the nine Dolby Digital EX 6.1 titles that were released on Laserdisc that I do not have. What the bidding is up to now as of this posting on eBay (*see link above pic*) is a relative bargain compared to what someone is asking for this same Laserdisc on lddb.com!!
