Come on guys. Humor him. These threads are what gives life to these forums. :)

I suspect the reason they pop is because they aren't broken in. You need to turn the amp all the way up and let them pop for a day or so. Once they are broken in they will stop popping.

Well also get a grip... what is it you don't get??? IF there sitting in a 14x 30 foot room... and have to put out some bass and sound niece Whats your problem???

The MW 6511 driver,, IF it works this may be a good fix. But, so far I have not got the driver that works. These drivers have not worked for a number or years. Now if they work in 2014.. them maybe a good thing.

Now what you think.. I could care less. With the SDA stuff.. it's either you can get the right replacement speakers or you can't..... the drivers you have to replace is the dam MW 6511. Now maybe... MAYBE.... the NEW China made MW6511.. may be good
I don't know or if I can get those...

You think i'm nuts.. get a grip.. I've -played music for over 35 years.. I Know what music should sound like...

Have you tried taking it to 11? I feel that if you were to take it to 11, you might suddenly find heaven. Take it to 11 and get back to us. We'll wait...

11 works great! I use an old Kraco car stereo with a marine battery to break in drivers. If they still pop just hook them up straight to the battery. Works every time!

Do you play in a Chinese Pop Rock Band? Strum a few chords can you so can a lot of others that are not arrogant guitar players are a dime a dozen it's the good ones that are not arrogant that goes for any instrument in case you don't strum a chord or two. You claim to know what music sounds like then why waste your time on a forum where you think that no one here does?

Exactly, a good speaker needs to clipped for some time in order to loosen up for best performance. Generally, this is done at the factory, but apparently not in this case. If Bob would run the drivers longer the popping will stop.

LMAO.. I have to guess this is lost on all you people. I'm NOT a 4 finger speed player.
Nore do I care to be, That is Not the point. It was to only show you I understand how to EQ things and I understand what good speakers sound like.
But your answer is to throw major guitar players at me.

LMAO... if any one of you feel you can throw a better video at me, THAT YOU ARE PLAYING..recorded LIVE, and think you can understand music better then I can... be my guest.

OK guys.. I just talked to Polk tech people I asked them if the MW6511 was better then they had 2 years ago, as the one to 3 I go were crap... they said yes. So I bought one. They would not tell me, it would NOT POP, but thought it was better.
The first words out of there mouth was DT stuff, to replace SDA...
This is from POLK... TECH .. PEOPLE.... NOT Me

Now either this MW6511 works.. or it does not, if it POP's like the rest.. then, time to get another speaker.
It does NOT make any difference what speaker you put them in.... if they POP there junk.

ALL the 1987 drivers work 100% so if the new diver works.. then the speaker is massive and great.. if it does not,, then time to get a new speaker...

Definitive Technology. In the new corporate hierarchy and marketing, DT speakers are promoted as the higher end audiophile speaker line. Polk isn't marketed that way anymore.
