Now you guys have piqued my curiosity! Give me the low down on Emmylou please. -

If you like female vocalists, you've got to check her out. Most of the stuff I've heard would be classified in the genre of Americana/country. Not quite as sing songy (if that makes sense at all) as Joni Mitchell. Her voice just makes me feel warm inside. I grabbed a bunch of her older stuff on vinyl the other day. I'll update as I have time to listen.
"All the Roadrunning", which Halo referred to above, is a newer release with Mark Knopfler. They make a great combination. There's a studio and a live CD, also a live DVD. Haven't seen anything on a vinyl version, though.:(Wristwatch--->Crisco -

Just got done listening to "Quarter Moon...", got me right back on the Emmylou bandwagon. "Leaving Louisiana in the Broad Daylight" is such a well written song, I always seem to enjoy it no matter who's doing it. The only album of hers I have left that's new to me is "The Ballad of Sally Rose", which, going by the album cover alone, I'm in a real hurry to get to. :rolleyes:Wristwatch--->Crisco -

Great Snags man. . . Tea for the Tillerman is a very special recording and you got it in MFSL.
Question: are you having any trouble with the Abbey Road reissue? So far I've received two different copies from Elusive Disc and both have issues on side two with left channel distortion. The vinyl is pretty crappy too in that there is more surface noise and crackles than usual. -
My awesome Sansui tuner that I got from Joe....I love this thing man....

No, not on the copy i have no noticeable distortion on side two but not as quiet as the import White album. -

Roy Buchanan - When A Guitar Plays The Blues
1985, Alligator Records
Reprise of my very favorite of Roy's studio sessions. This version is a mix to CD from original virgin vinyl I did a few years back. Played through the Innersound Isis hybrid ESL's, it is jaw dropping for its detail, transparency and dynamics. -
Albert Cummings - True To Yourself
2004, Blind Pig BPCD5092, CD
Albert's lead solos are actually an anticlimax to his backing rhythm guitar work -- which is a thing of unique style, pace and construction -- for his own vocals. More enjoyable with each new release, this Massachusetts home builder turned bluesman deserves your attention as a blues fan.
He often tours 3-piece because he can, and that pretty much says it all. -
Bryan Adams - Reckless
I'd forgotten how good this album was recorded on vinyl. A friend brought it over last night... and i was floored how well the music sounded... great album, great music, and it just rocks all the way around.
Now i'm going to have to get this album for myself. He got his in near mint condition for only a buck.
track list
1. One Night Love Affair
2. She's Only Happy When She's Dancin'
3. Run To You
4. Heaven
5. Somebody
6. Summer Of '69

8. It's Only Love
9. Long Gone

Vivaldi Concertos with Organ
Deutsche Grammophon 2530 652
Trying to expand my horizons into the classical genre. So far, not so bad. May take a couple of listens to really get into it. My memories from music appreciation classes in high school and college are starting to resurface.Wristwatch--->Crisco -

Why thank you. I've gotten some good advice recently
I also listened to some of the MHS releases; I forget exactly which ones, but I wasn't very impressed with their quality. Grandad seemed to be a member as well, he also had a bunch from the Columbia, Phillips, and Nonesuch labels.Wristwatch--->Crisco -

In my book, classical is Beatles, Pink Floyd, Who, Vanilla Fudge, Clash, MC5, etc. etc. That's what they should be teaching kids in school. To quote Bruce, "I learned more from a 3 minute record than I ever learned in school." -

As with other labels MHS had some really great stuff and some real garbage and I mean garbage. Even the vinyl itself on the bad stuff was awful. As I said sometimes it's a crap shoot but when you come across that gem you really know it. -
Listening to Toad the Wet Sprocket "Dulcinea" Excellent guitar work. Seems to be a pretty good recording. I have actually been listening to several of their cd's and I have forgotten how good they were. I did see them live last fall and I will say they sound even better live.I like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D

More Albert Cummings. Rock solid and backed/produced by Layton and Shannon of Double Trouble with Reese on B3. -
Got four already,
and now we're steady,
and then we played,
one, two, three, four!
Led Zepplin; The Complete Studio Recordings
Led Zepplin V; Houses of the Holy
What a great album and an awesome follow up to Zoso!!!
Where's that confounded bridge?
