Well sold a ps audio dac and transport for 4k on ebay. I asked for sig confirmation at the store and only insured each package for $500 because I thought there's not really a high risk as the package is sturdy. the seller calls me last night ' I never received my packages' then I check into it and find the packages were tossed on his front door a 609 pm.
I call the ups manager and tell her about asking for sig confirmation because paypal requires it and she basically said tough schiit you never paid for it and I believe my employees would never leave it out if you asked but I did!! We even had a conversation about how expensive the items were blah blah.
Now I wait for a claim to go through and I spent the 4K with a big grin on my face thats now turned into a sad clown face boo hoo 4k down the toilet?
Well I know my threads are all blah blah hahaha stupid pfb but this time I am just down about it and think I he exhausted all avenues of getting my dough back and all I get is $500 each item back in insurance.

You have evidence that the packages were delivered, tell the buyer to pound sand.Political Correctness'.........defined

I guess another option, especially for a high value shipment, is to require a signature for delivery. I don't think Fed-Ex charges extra for that. Not sure about UPS.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

Why do we bother.... I want to put him on the Bozo list but it's too damn entertaining.

Ups is $3.20 and is all you need for pp seller protection. I would tell him to pound sand but the packages were left on his doorstep, pp told me that if and when he files I will have to pay. Its the young girl at the ups stores mistake.

Its kinda like groundhogs day around here.............Where’s the KABOOM?!?! There’s supposed to be an Earth shattering KABOOM!!!

I always require signature on my packages unless I know the buyer. FedEx requires it over $500- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

I google earthed the guys digs and it looks like a nice neighborhood with all houses so I cant get my head round it and think he may have just saw it there and though' free audio' On time ups left my repaired projector sitting in the hallway the whole weekend and I called mendtronix to complain and explained to them that if I was not an honest person I could have just kept it and filed a claim against them. -
Believe me, if UPS has proof of delivery, you will be hard pressed to get anything out of them, not even your under valued $500. for each pkg.
I've seen where you have posted before that you hated UPS, yet you use them to ship expensive gear, I don't get it. -
I have a side business selling used and rare books and make it a point to insure anything over $30 for full value. Sure, insurance has gotten expensive (I just paid $7 on postal insurance alone today when I shipped out a $400 book) but one has to CYA.

I will find the message and quote if I have to but the buyers terms was that he only wanted ups because of past experiences with fedex. -
Every site needs a "jester" (and this site has a "High End" one, BRAVO!), but frankly, I've rented The Wolverine for tonight so I'm exiting the boundless amusement this thread will provide "early"!
But what is a Jester without the "presence" of a "King"? Nothing, nothing at all!
Enjoy!

Get a UPS account, and set up your own shipments. That way you can avoid all that stuff... I so all my own ships and never had 1 problem.

You simply screwed yourself again...
Did not value it correctly with UPS and did not MAKE SURE that it had a signature requirement. Sending out equipment that valuable, you should always dot your i's and cross your t's.
I would say chalk it up as lesson learned, but... -
I think I am going to have to contact the BBB and take the UPS store to small claims court.
-
Why wouldn't you insure your packages for their value? That's just ridiculous man. If they say it's delivered it's not on you, that's between him and UPS as long as you can show proof of delivery.

I really wish that was the case -
I had a similar problem with ups. And i vowed to never( in my smokey voice from the movie friday) ever, ever, ever, ever use ups again !!! I now have a fed ex acct. But a couple of weeks ago, fed x pissed me off! I was waiting on them to deliver my new velodyne sub. So i woke up early all excited. Walked into my garage and opened the garage door (to get a little fresh air) and bam!... My sub was sitting in my drive way! Needless to say , i was pissed! This guy did'nt even ring the door bell or knock on the door! He just left my package in the drive way for all to see. I understand it's a very big box (and over 100 lbs.) and i do live in a nice suburban subdivision. But in this day/ time, we still have to take things into consideration. Ijs... Everybody is'nt as honest as we would like them to be.

PFB rather it be your fault or not, my condolences and hope you can work things out. B-Run is right unless purchaser understood or requested the signature requirement.
On my last (2) $5k plus purchases for used audio gear the seller and I agreed on insurance and direct delivery to Fed-ex pick up location. This way there is no discrepancy of the outer package damage. I also, popped boxes open at the Fed-ex store. A dozen pic's of item before and after packing. CYA is a must down days.
Good luck

First mistake was not insuring the total value of the packages. Second was spending the money before the guy confirmed delivery. Just don't understand how you deal gear that expensive and not protect yourself and respect the buyer enough not to do the right thing. Taking that chance is a roll of the dice and you seem to have come up snake eyes..................... Again. And not to sound like too much of a jerk but the title of the thread should be"just lost $4000 thanks to myself being cheap and dumb"Shawn

First off on the left bottom corner of a ups label there is a spot for a reference# and it will state if its PPD, 3rd Party, Collect, signature required. The tracking# even reflects that about 7 digits into it. Did you even ask for a reciept and have her reassure you that signature required was on the reciept it is reflected on your reciept. That and not insuring it was not a smooth move on your behalf.
With all the Money you throw around on audio gear, electronics, vehicles, what's a couple of extra bucks to make sure your transaction runs smoothly!!! The money tree must of shed all its leafs in that cold ND weather rake up the rest and use it to start a fire. Another lesson not learned. let's make deal. If the UPS tracking site shows "Delivered" then take a screen shot, email it to the buyer, and say you need to deal with UPS. Also, post the screen shot here.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable
