What's funny about Belichick's comments is that the Patriots run that exact same pic play several times a game. The Welker hit didn't look intentional to me either. It's hard to know intent but given his history I'd say we have to give him the benefit of the doubt here, not like he has a history of violent aggression on the field.

I was surprised by Belichick's comments in two respects, one is that they run that same play all the time and two is that he said anything at all - I think we got more from him on that play than he's really ever said about anything.

Agreed Assimilated. I mean, Welker's had a couple of concussions this year, right? I can't see him seeking out excessive contact, and especially not with the possibility of another concussion lingering in the background.

Reminds me of the year they lost their undefeated season to the Giants in the super bowl. Belicheat ran off to the locker room like an insolent child with a few seconds remaining on the clock, and skipped shaking Coughlin's hand entirely.

But I digress. Come on Peyton, get at least 1 more ring so you don't have to sit farther down the table than Eli during those family holiday dinners.

I think Manning really needs this super bowl for his legacy. He tries to downplay it but I think he cares more about his legacy than he lets on, how could he not? I don't think he'll need a third if he can win this one with a second team, but he needs a second ring to get into a discussion about best ever.

I'd agree, especially with his brother winning 2 already. I hear that knock against my personal favorite QB of all time (Dan Marino) too frequently. "But he never won it all!" So yea, I'd like to see Peyton have enough rings where there's no doubt that he's one of the best. Like him or not, I've never seen a QB so.......prepared week in and week out. He deserves a ring in my book.

Well.. I want our town to have just ONE ring. That's all I ask. If it's at the expense of a Canton-bound QB's competition with his brother, I'm good with that.

Not REALLY much of a competition when you get right down to it. I read a story this past week about Peyton explaining what was meant when he was calling out, "Omaha! Omaha!" at the line of scrimmage. In true Peyton fashion, he gave some straight-faced jab, just messin' with the press, that explained nothing - pretty funny stuff. Anyhoo...in the comments section under the story, somebody said that if it were Eli coming to the line of scrimmage and calling out, "Omaha! Omaha!", it would be to let everybody know he was about to throw an interception!

Actually the intentional hit that the League needs to look at is the SF sideline one:

    That's actually very blatant.
