SL -2000 to SL-2500 tweeter upgrade worth it?

I have a different perspective on this one (I just did my 10B XO's): keep two SEPARATE resistors (2 Ohm and .5 Ohm). Why?
1) Allows for easy "change out" later (I ended up sticking w/the .5 Ohm)
2) It does alter the behavior of the 12 uF cap somewhat
It's only a couple of extra bucks...Home Theater/2 Channel:

The 10s have two 12uf Caps, one is shunting the 2 ohm resistor to affect the voicing of the tweeter in relation to the two woofers, if memory serves, while the other is acting as the high pass filter. The 5 has a single 12uf high pass Cap. There's no shunt Cap. Much simpler design.

Or replace the poly with a 1 ohm that should do it. You youngsters :razz:westmassguy wrote: »About the only thing I know of to tame the SL2000 is to disconnect it.POLK SDA 2.3 TLS BOUGHT NEW IN 1990, Gimpod/Sonic Caps/Mills RDO-198

Thanks all, I found the Solens and the Mills at Parts Express. I don't know exactly when I will get the xo mod done , but I will post my findings here. I will do one first and AB the speakers.

Oops....I forgot to mention, called Polk and they are out of rdo 194 tweeters until october. I mentioned that everyone on this thread thought the new tweeters were not as bright as the originals. He said flatly the Opposite !! What a hobby! It is all subjective to a point.
