audio racks

Not sure where to post this. I am looking for a new audio rack and would like suggestions and pictures of some racks the members are using and are happy. Good valu for the dollar, stable, esthetic, and functional (isolation type?). I am unable to view the system showcases and I thought that would be a good place to start. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is the rack I built. Nothing fancy but sturdy as hell.If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money. -

So when we gonna see the pic of the one your going to build for me ...
P.S. there are times I wish I had 1/10th of your skills and equipment at hand just so I could do some cool DIY stuff like you have done lol..."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." I like the looks of the synergy racks, but I am unhappy with the shelf mounting system, pain in the @ss to get level and I don't think there is much isolaton. The looks are beyond reproach though.

Thanks for all the helpful replies, lots of good stuff here. I love the timbernation, and the I've thought of building one myself. but I'm not really sure what truly provides proper isolation etc., or how important that is. Are those shelves glass or acrylic Toolfan? The synergy is very nice fjross and you can still see those beautiful blue meters, I will be mounting a Mac C50 and an MC 452 is on order, hence the new rack so it need to be stable as the Mcintosh equipment is quite heavy. Where did you get the rails decal that does look sturdy. Thanks again for all the help, the pictures are especially helpful.

I modified some Ikea shelves for the short term but have been pretty happy with them so they stayed.

What are those? They look like what I might need in my office...."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -

Ahh I see what you did, its a 2x2 with the top divider taken out..... I might just need to look into this.
I have a nice entertainment center now, but its too low to the ground and I forsee issues when you add tube amp + baby.....
This would get it up high enough that I could put all my gear at the top and be fine. Also looks like nice sections for LP storage as well...."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." I am in the process of gathering materials to build mine.
Similar to the plain maple 3 shelf unit from Timbernation but the third (and 4th) shelves will be stand alone/stackable units.
Materials are also different. Using 2x2 Ambrosia Maple for the legs and 8/4 rough milled/unplaned 60 year old seasoned black Walnut for the shelves.
I will be using distressed square head wood bolts to attach the legs. I believe the bolts are 1/2"x4" long. I got them from my dad's shop when we tore it down. Loads of reclaimed oak beams, early 1900s hardware, about 50 tons of red brick and tin ceiling tiles. Finally getting to use some of the stuff I have been storing for the last 8 years. Was going to say...when I am done, my rack will look just as exotic and I will have less than $200 into materials.
Don't get me wrong...I can appreciate the artistry that went into that but I can't justify that much money on something I can make out of "warmer" materials."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

Zltful, do you have any sketches or photos of your plans, sounds very interesting? I am also thinking of a DIY rack from some lumber that was milled when I had my woods logged. Maple shelves and cherry rails.
-
I don't sorry. I did pick up a slab of zebrawood for the shelves over the weekend though.
Still waiting on the leg material. Found some of the most colorful ambrosia maple turning stock I have ever seen.
I had a huge slab of well aged walnut that was about ebony dark but the guy backed out of selling it to me about 30 minutes after I got there to pick it up.
I also wandered around an architectural salvage company on Saturday and saw some amazing pieces to use but they wanted multiple body parts.
Trying to get the guy that supplied this slab below to provide more.
