We were without power for 3 weeks after Hurricane Ike but the worst is being without water or sewage for longer...but we didn't have to contend with the cold...it was just hot, muggy, and dirty...taking daily whores baths with bottles of water

What really blows is that my generator is unregulated AC power and unsafe to use for powering any "good" electronics, like my PCs, Panny plasma or audio set up. Oh well, cable will probably be out too anyway. Be sure to put on the ear protection before firing up your chainsaw, I know I damn sure will !

My new pre-amp is supposed to ship Monday/Tuesday from New York... Hope it survives any floods along the way.

Stay safe guys. Going to be a wild ride.

Now now you're just jealous cuz you don't have a foot of snow on the ground and minus twenty windchill and having to shovel the dam driveway three times since yesterday cuz of the drifting snow. You folks on the east coast make sure everything is ready cuz this could get bad best of luck.

Now they're predicting an 11' surge from this thing... my GPS says I am 16' above sea level, but this storm is supposedly arriving at the worst possible time, with a full moon high tide happening about 11pm tonight. The house itself should be safe, but I have a feeling my garage and finished basement (stupid driveway slopes down under the house) may become the indoor pool I never wanted.

Well, I used to like living on Long Island, just hope I can say that in 48 hours.

Stay as safe as you can if you live in the path of this thing.
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

Well, everyone always says "pics or it didn't happen", so here goes!
    Photo10291331.jpg
    Photo10291332.jpg

These were taken approx. 1330 hrs. 10/29/12 on Main St. in Riverhead.
The 3 buildings shown are of the East End Arts Council, a client of mine since 1999. I have a feeling after tonight that I may be cleaning UP there for quite awhile.
As near as I can tell, the water level behind those buildings is about 6' above normal high tide, so according to the experts we can expect another 6-8' above where it is now. Sheesh!
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

Just got home from work a little while ago. Yeah, we had to go in until they made us leave around 2pm.

Wind gusts are picking up now, much stronger than when I went to work around 9am. The only thing that would make life suck is a power outage. Then it's hand draining the sump pump when the UPS battery backup gets used up.

Gonna be a LONG 24-36 hours!
    No excuses!

Just a little tip for those of you weathering the storm. It is not pleasing to eat raw eggs but if you hard boil them they are quite tasty. I just boiled up 2 dozen eggs in the event we lose power.

Never, at any point did I imply that all affected were involved in the deception. Ya know........ this scenario has played out before, FOR CENTURIES.

Power went out at 3:15. Fortunately, 1) I have a generator, and 2) Cable and Internet still works. Nothing else bad has happened. Hope you all are OK.

Wind is really picking up here in Lower Bucks county Pa. We are just north of Philadelphia but right over the bridge from Trenton and burlington NJ. Rain seems to have slowed down for now. How is it in NJ guys?

Winds are picking up big time & yet the rain has slowed down. I don't expect that scenerio to remain for much longer. We're only 60miles from Atlantic City are it looks like we're sittimg smack in Sandy's path once she hits land. It ain't looking good bro.

Insane wind here in northern nj. Not much rain but the wind is fierce. If we had the amount of rain that they originally predicted for my area, i suspect we would have tons of trees down. I am lucky that i still have power.

On a positive note, my wife has been cooking all day in preparation for the storm. We are eating like kings
