It's a coming for sure. Sandy is getting ready to clobber us very shortly. I've taken all the precautions I can & am just hopeful for the best. Is is one time you really hope the predictions are dead wrong. Best of luck to all those in her path. My biggest concern is losing electricity. I've lived here for 20+yrs & have never had an outage for more than 10-15 minutes. I hope that record continues thru this mess.

We are ready as can be. Cleaned out the gutters , stocked up on dry foods and botled water. Cleaned out the basement where water could get in. Did all the laundry , gassed up both trucks.

Just got off the phone with my son and he said he is as ready as can be. I'm sure him and his friends will head up the hill at a friends house like they did last year..

Cleaned the gutters, put an auto pump in our outside basement stairwell and put everything that can move in the shed. Just worried about the 20 or so trees that are 80 feet tall and 20 feet from my house. We have had to get 6 cut down in the last couple of years due to lightning strikes and disease. Hoping that they hold up......

Same here! Longest outage I remember was about 10 hours on a weekday that I was home from school.

I'm hoping for the best but expecting the worst. Not much more I can do here though except wait.

I think you have my contact info. I'm not far all. If you have a problem or need a hand, I can walk to your place.

Have topped off the fuel tanks in all my vehicles as well as a few additional 5 gallon cans of gas. Next move is to fire up the generator to make sure there are no problems with that as it has been a few years since it was last used. Crossing my fingers.

I got all my preparations done. Plenty of bottled water and non perishables, cleared the drains, pulled all the deck chairs and table into the shed, laundry done. In the 4 years i've been here, I've never lost power. Here's hoping my streak continues.

    Be safe everyone!

I've been working on my hand to hand combat for the past 2 days! This is in preparation for the looting.
I also picked up a Madmax Interceptor and plan on battling my neighbor who looks like Humungus.

I'm just hoping this stuff doesn't decide to go "snow" up here. I'm above you and an October winter storm will NOT make me "happy"! Stay safe, below! Maybe it won't be as bad as they say?

If it goes snow, at least this time our trees have 75% of the leaves on the ground versus last years 5% on the ground. I just want to know if we are shutting down work. Driving out of Cambridge tomorrow afternoon is going to be a nightmare!!

Well, if the forecast is in the ballpark and if the recorded phone call fro our electric co. is any indication we'll be firing up the generator for the 2nd time this year. Last time it was 2+ days, we are told this time it will be more than that. Hope they are wrong!

Silver lining to all this will be the free firewood I should be able to get. I would rather not lose electric!!
