I inquired about those a couple days ago, but the seller never responded.

I can't tell how many times I've responded to CL ads more than once and never get a return reply. The one time I did I couldn't get off the phone fast enough. Then the guy hounds me for several days insulting and belittling me like that was going to make me throw cash his way....

Then you get the one like I did when I bought my Rectilinerar Low Boys. The dude invited me in to his house and then his basement to oogle at all his gear then wanted for me to stay for dinner w/ the wife and kids and I had to say no, I'm going to hit all kinds of traffic and then I have unload the bulky 80lb speakers in the dark.

I just picked up a pair of these last night off of offer up. $30.00 and he threw in two cheap receivers. I'll probably re-sell the receivers to recoup the cost.

Or instead sell them to me for $30, sell the receivers and profit :P.

    Awesome deal! :) I'm jealous.

Vintage polks being offered for sale on Craigslist usually fall under two categories.

2, the seller thinks that his older speakers are like fine wine or exquisite art work that steadily go up in value.

More often than not number two applies.

    10000000000% agree

just dealt with this on some RTA's. Seller wanted more than they cost new.

This deal strikes me as an example of #1 above.

$225 for 1Cs that look to be in as good condition as these is more than reasonable.

yes, with the black end caps... studio version.. unless someone, for unknown reasons, decided to paint the natural wood end caps black.

Yeah I contacted this guy the first day the ad came out. He had no pictures and called them Polk SDA SRT speakers. He just had the number of drivers in the description and had no asking price (drives me crazy when people do that!). I emailed him how much? He tells me a pair sold on Ebay for $3,000 but give him a reasonable offer. Said no thanks to my offer (around a $1,000)......
I did try and give him some good info on the worth of early SRS speakers (especially now seeing they are an early spade/spade version).

He then updated the ad to include pictures and was asking $1,500 cash and $1,500 in trade. Now he has changed it back to reasonable offer. I have a feeling they are going to be there for awhile.

I just love the look of the all black studio version.

    That's it!

I don't need them, but I want them. Can anyone in San Diego help broker a deal for these? I can drive down on Saturday, but I'm afraid they'd be gone by then.

Did the studio version even have end caps?

Looks to me like the exposed wood on this pair was painted black by somebody who had no trouble finding black paint.

Something smells fishy, can we get a concensus on the subject of these 1C's?

Apparently they were painted black. I also have 2 sets of non-studio 1C's and other than the color that pair is just like them.

We now know what happened to the last of the black paint.
