man...those 12b's - hot!

These have been for sale in San Diego for several months. They look great but probably priced too high, otherwise they would've sold by now. No affiliation.

I would love to have a pair of those 12's. Just because I am becoming a hoarder of all things Polk. The best way to predict the future is to invent it.

RT-400. Oh, these bring back a lot of memory. My first polk speaker

The RTA-12B and C's are the best non SDA vintage Polk speakers I have heard, in some aspects they even beat out SDA's (center imaging for instance). I paid $225 for mine, ended up giving them to a friend for free. I tried selling them for something around $200 with two extra Peerless tweeters and an extra MW6600X and I still couldn't get rid of them. I don't know why.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

Sorry, I didn't see that. In that case , if someone wanted the "ultimate" Polk speakers, it would probably be worth it.

Is that a new high asking price for a set of 1.2tl's?
$3665.00 ?
I remember good sets going for 2K just a year or two ago. -
Now I can see the value. If they had the Monastery Crossovers in them. I would be on the road right now.

No affiliation ... any advice on what to offer after a listen? Do these belong to anyone here?
1986 ... not the biamp 1987.
They do not appear to be selling on eBay at $700 - $1200.
Thanks,
Avrim

I believe those are his father's speakers. I know he had a pair years ago that he tried to sell for a premium price.Political Correctness'.........defined

The SRS 2s for $699 are mine. Completely updated and sounding superb and very little interest. One inquiry. I'd offer maybe $800 ?

Agree. They were $1,400 (incl tax) new back in 1987 when I bought mine. Seems 50% of their list price 30 years later is a bit of a stretch.HTAdcom GFP-565 Pre-amp, Adcom GFA-565 Mono Block Amps (Front), Adcom GFA-585 Amp (Side), Adcom GFA-555 Amp (Rear), Adcom ACE-515, Pioneer CLD-3070 Laserdisc, Sony CDP-605esD, Sony BluRay BDP BX59, Samsung 50" Plasma, Polk Audio SDA SRS 1.2TL Front (Walnut), Polk Audio SDA SRS Side (Walnut), Polk Audio SDA SRS Rear (Walnut).2 Channel (Living Room)Adcom GFP-565 Pre-amp (w/Big Sky Audio Upgrades), Adcom GFA-565 Mono Block Amps (w/Big Sky Audio Upgrades), Adcom ACE-515, Sony CDP-705esD, Magnum Dynalab FT-101A Etude, Polk Audio SDA SRS 2.3TL (Walnut), Polk Audio SDA SRS 2 (Walnut), STAX SR34 Electret Earspeaker System.2 Channel (Office)Adcom GFP-555 Pre-amp, Adcom GFA-555 Amp, Sony CDP-605esD, Adcom GFT-555 Tuner, Polk Audio SDA 1C (Walnut).2 Channel (Garage)Hafler DH-110 Pre-amp, Hafler DH-220 Amp, Sony CDP-505esD, Hafler DH-330 Tuner, Polk Audio SDA 2B (Walnut).

I'd say at least $1500 high. Also, you'd have to spend another $400 for tweeters. -

Cost of living out there is much more......rolling eyes
I found a set of RTA11's and the guy said he had to have 600.00 for the pair. He was none too happy when I laughed in his face. For some reason a lot of folks think these are like fine wine and they appreciate with age. I offered him what I thought was fair 150.00 but he had just bought a set of Dynaudio speakers and he thought I was going to help him pay those Dyn's off his CC.
