If these have the blade/blade interconnect they will have two round boards for the crossovers and are quite expensive to upgrade. At $250.00 purchase price and you do the full upgrade path figure on being into them for upwards of $700.00+ not counting spikes.
Not trying to rain on your parade just letting you know what to expect. Good luck however you decide.

I would like to see no more than $250. They look to be the older blade/blade so the new sonic film caps/mill resistors on the crossover will cost at least $300 for both you doing the work. They look real clean so they are worth it. You don't have to do this right away but it will make a difference. Plan on replacing the tweeters also later on.

You may also want to consider using Dayton caps from Parts Express. Good caps that are inexpensive (relative to the cost of the speakers). I installed them in a pair of SDA 2's (side by side tweeter model) and they sound really good. YMMVSDA SRS 2.3TL's

Polk developed the SL1000 in the early 80s, followed by the SL2000. Around 1987 Polk began work on the SL3000/Tri-Laminate Tweeter design. They were introduced 1989 I believe, and the SL2500 was a less expensive version of it. They appear to have the same or similar magnet structures and voice coils, but the dome material is different between the two. That's why the RDO-198-1 is the replacement for both the 2500 and 3000.After removing the tweeter on the 5jr I was able to verify that westmassguy is correct. It in fact is the sl2500. They have a date stamped indicating March 1992. I could have sworn that somewhere along the line I had read that these were produced only in the mid 80's. Can someone offer clarification. Thanks
