It's not as if Polk is going to change their logo based on what is said by a bunch of armchair experts.

They might not, but why not take some constructive criticism "to heart" from people who are not only loyal customers, but who just might have some real-life experience in the business world.

If logos were not important, then every company would have a 12 pt courier font company name for a logo. The fact is, the logo conveys an important image for a company and many of us feel that the new Polk logo isn't good at that.

I wonder if Matthew Polk had any input into the logo selection since it is *his* name and the company he co-founded that is represented.

The overwhelming response from what I have read and heard from folks in reference to the new logo and dropping of "Audio" from the name has been extremely negative. If anyone thinks what they have read here has been harsh, you should see what they are saying about it on other audio forums.

I am quite sure they are aware logos are important (it's insulting to the people at Polk to suggest otherwise), just as I am sure they invested plenty of money and market research on the new logo. They're not going to throw all that aside because a few cantankerous forum posters say they don't like it, even if they claim to be experts. :P

I like the new logo. The rest of you will just have to get over it. It is the new logo.

You still don't get it. One of the things that has made Polk Audio so great year after year is the fact that they do listen to their customers.

My feedback base is considerably larger than just this forum. You should do more research before speaking and perhaps you wouldn't appear to look as foolish the next time.

I don't really care for the new logo, but I can deal with it on the website...not so much on a pair of speakers.

FWIW... I like the new logo it. To me it plays off of the "@" symbol. So instead of @polk you have "love"polk. When do we get it as a smiliy option?

Btw, I like what they've done with the background strip near the top of the page on the main parts of the webpage. It's not always the really ugly acoustic panel pattern. Go to the main page and refresh it a bunch of times. The image changes and that part is cool, IMO. The black and mahogany strips above it are still ugly and pointless to me.

Jesse - I've read what's out there... yeah, it's kind of a laughing stock... Personally, I don't mind it on the webpage, but on a speaker, I think it would be... a mistake. Like someone else mentioned - imagine the LSiMs with that on the front. Any idea if they actually plan to badge their products like this? What was the talk at CAF?

I've already said my piece above.

But I have a question. Is anyone else having trouble scrolling down forum threads? There seems to be some hang time where the page hesitates and stutters. I used to be able to go right down the page.

It is particularly onerous on the Vintage Products page where it can take me many minutes to get from A to M, for example.

What's up with this? is it the "boarder" or more information being loaded...or..?

No, he did not. Matt Polk is retired and working on other projects.

The heart is NOT a part of the logo that will be on the actual loudspeaker.

This is a post I have modded and posted on other sites as well talking about this change.

I have to agree with some of the others here, in fact I goggled new Polk logo to see if others were taking notice before I got to this thread. It really does cheapen the brand in my opin, and it would make me not purchase them as it looks like a logo that was designed by a 5 year old child, plus it looks god awful and unprofessional as an audio speaker logo. Some said it will not have the heart in red on the actual speaker, that does not matter as the new font was poorly chosen and shouldn't be used period, as it looks out of place is too big and looks quite cheesy. They may have used this on some of the really old speakers but I feel it just does not work.

If you want to shorten it to polk thats fine but then do just that, use the orig font that looks good and just shorten it to polk that would be acceptable this new one is not.

The logo chosen on the older Polk's fits the product and does not look cheesy like this new logo does. While we are at it I don't like the new tapered grill design either. In my opin this new design and logo is an epic fail.

Why would they do this? it is insane, common what were they smoking when they discussed this at the last corporate meeting. Hey don't fix it if it ain't broke :-)

The site all I can say is wow and I mean wow in a bad way, that looks like a really bad WP template site. It does not say speaker company in any way shape or form. It looks like every other blog site only not even as good as some. All they needed to do is mod the orig and that would have been a lot better the wood bg does not fit the site nor flow ... it looks more like the site should be selling beer and burgers not speakers.

If polk wants to use just the name and drop audio then fine, but then perhaps something more along these lines. I think this looks a lot better and fits the part of speaker manufacturer. The other logo looks odd and out of place ... Yes I know the new font is somewhat based on the very old org version but it looks too cheesy and out of place and does not look like it belongs on the grill of a speaker ...

My concept is based on the last version but drops audio from the name, as this seems to be what they are going for. Note: this is concept it would probably be made smaller on the grill, just my take on what it could have been or could be changed to.

    polk_concept.gif

I would have had this in my orig post but they do not let you edit your post for more then 20 mins. admin you might want to rethink that rule for reged users. Not really a great idea in my opin, we should be able to re-edit our post at any time like amazon allows.

I would like to get the others take on my concept.

Great that shows how much I do not like it. They should have let us all design concepts and the winner gets a new set of high end speakers.

But I am not alone see other posts on the net most hate it.
Note I do own Polk Speakers I'm not just posting out of the blue MY CS10 logo is fine.

I highly doubt Polk speaker owners will flee from the brand. The logo has nothing to do with the sound of the speakers! Sure I prefer the old logo, the old style of the forum and all. But $hit changes and I think most will get over it.
