Sounds good to me! Even the patterns in an anechoic chamber would be less pedestrian and more appropriate.

Perhaps they are trying to get up use to the new veneer coming on the next generation LSiM's?

I disagree. Goes very well with the overall feel that Polk is going for. If you look at all of the photos on the redesigned site, most display things that are old and/or used, except for those featuring new Polk gear. The message is that if an item is high quality, you will still want to use it when it is old and used. Hence the pictures of various guitars, a violin, stacks of vinyl, etc.

Using an anechoic chamber for the background I think would be counter to the overall design, going for a high-tech look when the rest of the site is vintage feeling. Now if it was an old, used anechoic chamber, maybe, but I think it would be hard to get that message through without putting vintage gear in front of it, but then it's no longer a background. And plus the criss-cross design would be very busy.

I'm sure a lot of thought went into the current background. There will always be resistance to change.

This post speaks volumes about today's Polk, tying nicely back to the origins of the company as one committed to provide high quality reproduction of sound at reasonable prices to a fairly savvy (and very loyal/committed customer base. It's almost unheard of today to see this kind of direct feedback from a company; it's exemplary!

... and I'd absolutely buy a Polksicle, as long as the flavor isnt' "distressed barn wood".

I don't like it either. Sorry to whoever designed it...but it just looks plain and boring.

I have never purchased a product because of how it's brand logo looks...however I have decided to not purchase a product when an ugly logo was too prominently displayed. As long as Polk's logo is not too noticeable it won't have a bearing on me making a purchase of a product.

Wood sides.....eh, not so crazy about it.

Polks logo.....looks too Hello Kitty-ish. Doesn't portray Polk as a serious audio company imho anyway.

Maybe you guys should have hired Keiko or Rick as a consultant for all of this. Or maybe not, we'd have naked women on a swing inside the O in Polk.

I'm thinking as a logo, you take the letters in Polk and for instance the "l" can be made into a speaker. Have some woofers in there. Maybe incorporate other polk products in a generic form into the lettering as products always change. Maybe also incorpporate a young dude with hair blasting as the "P". Could attract some younger customers. Some classy cool colors too would be better for the lettering. Something that says class on a piece of gear.

I know non of this stuff means diddly to most of us, but lets face it, people buy gear by it's looks and that includes logos. Maybe JSTAS can paint some flames on there for ya.

So I just refreshed the page... and something immediately distracted my focus off to the sides of the page. A very busy pattern just grabbed my attention. That darn anechoic chamber. Looks out of place, IMO.

ETA: But at least it's only displayed on the forum. Wasn't put in with the banners in rotation for the other pages.

Instead of President of Club Polk, I guess Jessie is now Chairman of the Board.

I like the look myself. The Heart Polk may help with the WAF, a little more chickified. Nice work. Not changing the Signature badges on my 2.3TLs though.

Sorry, but the new logo reminds me of a 13 year old girl who dots her i's with a heart. Not very professional looking for a serious audio company, IMHO of course.

but... wasn't that even truer of the early logo?

FWIW, my take on the 1970s logo - back then - was that the heart was an "all you need is love" kind of '60s remnant. I like the explanation posted yesterday about the love of music/audio... not sure I entirely buy it, though ;-)
