This joint needs some more vintage hifi

The two shielded 12AX7s are preamp tubes; both are probably used in the high gain moving magnet phono cartridge preamp section.
-
Looking for the schematic to see what the 12AU7's for. I am guessing that the other two 12AX7s are in the phase splitters, but I could well be wrong.
Meanwhile, I did find this Flikr album of nice photos of a Pacemaker 2221! :- )

That is sharp, very nice! Amazing what can be done with some of these old hi-fi pieces. How does it sound? What speakers? Way ! -

Polkie 2009: Thank Mark Hardy for it, he posted it. -
Thank you Doc, it's nice to see the vintage Bell equipment mentioned here.

Did Marantz or Sansui make a Quad receiver that you could plug in a external joystick to rotate to sound around the room manually? Sweet pics posted!

Tonight I put my Sansui 9090DB back into service

Looks like pumpkinman had the black lights cranked up! ;- )
Did I know you had a 9090DB? Probably -- I used to have a memory, I can dimly remember it...

@mhardy6647
Don't remember if I mentioned it. I have a few nice pieces of Sansui gear.
AU and TU 9500
4500 series Quad receiver
AU-D11II Integrated amp
Plus a few lesser pieces

Only lesser Sansui here, 'cept for a TU-717 which is an OK tuner (very pretty, though).

Yeah that's right. Sansui tuners and integrated amps from that era are beautiful.
Audio works of art. Not like today's BestBuy's offerings.

Hopefully a better picture ?? All these are taken with my iPhone.

Question for Mark or anybody for that matter.
Anyone ever own a Concept receiver ?? Reading about them on AK. I don't even remember the brand. The big boy was the 16.5 ??

Hi Pman, Years ago, we had some stores here in Houston called Pacific Stereo that used to sell that line!
-
There's a fan club of sorts at AK.
I've never owned on -- the AKer in Clinton, MA who hosts a regular area get-together (FrankFest) has a big one (edit: which he quite likes, and he has good taste in sound overall, by my estimation).
I think they're kind of meh -- but I seem to be in the minority... and the big ones especially go for stoopit money on certain on-line auction sites.
-
Thanks Mark
Yeah it seems every that forum really has a group hawking what they believe to be the best.

Hey... I'm an Altec fanboy; speak for yourself!

Well -- be that as it may, the Polk Audio Montior Series Model 7A was my gateway to a lifelong hobby & enjoyment of reproduced music in the home; they made a vivid & lasting impression on me & will be with me until... well, you know :-/
-
I forget, do you still have them? I'm gonna redo my 7a's someday...
-
Oh, yes, yes I do. They are 100% original (and a little scruffy, mostly they need new grilles thanks to a cat's machinations). I am a little leery to re-hab them for fear of dislodging the 38-year old woofer magnets :-O
In the ensuing few decades, I've also picked up a pair of Monitor 10s (very original version), a pair of Monitor 9A :-P and a pair of what I call Monitor 5B (not quite sure what they really are -- they have the "silver coil" tweeters, but still sound pretty OK to my aged ears).
I'd still like to snag a pair of the original Minimonitors someday.
