    We'll give this a try: http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?134967-Hand-Made-Tube-amp-290-shipped

I've chatted with Wayne from WaamampS before and he seemed like a knowledgeable guy. Looking forward to hearing one of his creations, and looking forward to hearing the horns with SE EL84!

Well it's officially a bitter-sweet day folks... We heard back yesterday that our offer on a house and it was accepted! Inspection is tomorrow, and everything is lining up for a 30 day close.

However, as you can see in the picture below, the room cannot accommodate my corner horns. Not only are there not two corners that match, but there is also that 24" trim/ledge that runs most of the way around the room. It was fun while it lasted, but a new house is ultimately more important than any speakers, and I enjoyed the run.

Currently trying to figure out what my next pair will be, as almost any speakers are more room friendly than corner horns. Thought about going back to a free-standing Klipsch like the Belle, but a total change might be fun also like Martin Logan. I'm going out to do some demoing today to get my ear on a bunch of different options, and for the time being, the speakers are on CL as a feeler for a trade.

It wouldn't be difficult to remove the ledge, but the chimney would be a PITA.

    These would work though.

Just chatted with the guys from Soniphase, and we will be discussing new woofer enclosures that do not require corners so I would keep the Smith horns; i.e. front-loaded scoop, ported bass-reflex...

Very nice speaker system, tough to go wrong with that combo.

If the Soniphase guys can build me a good pair of woofer cabinets to match the Smith horns, I'll be fine trading in the corner horns. Life goes on...

Hey Jake.. It really would be easy to infill the walls above the stub walls..
and the Fireplace is not even in the center of the Room....It would be an easy fix to move it, especially if it is gas.

It would be a bad corner anyway because of where the door is; just to the right of the picture.

I'm excited to get my ears on some new woofer cabinets and see what my options are.

It's more than likely I'll end up with a black pair of these, as I already have a black pair of the mid/high Smith horns...

What freq range are the horns for? The mid horn looks awfully small for a "mid".

The Smith horn pictured above does look smaller than the version I've had since I got the corner horns; without measuring I think my is 36" wide. I think it goes down to 300-400hz, but I'd have to check my numbers. The high reaches up to 20kHz, and the scoop loaded woofer would be very dependent on the driver specs. Correctly loaded, the builders claim is a 30Hz bottom end with a 6db bump over SPL specs of the woofer.

Ever think of adding something like a Danley Super Spud to fill out the bottom end? I bet a pair of folded horn subs would work fantastically.

Just swapped in a set of Vishay capacitors as a test to replace the Sonicaps and they are geat budget caps! The Sonicaps sound more refined overall, but the Vishays are a litte warmer and sould cost a lot more than they do. The Sonicaps are going back in, but I am very impressed with the Vishay caps and would highly suggest them as I can't imagine any better caps for the price; four 1822 6.8uf and two 1822 2.2uf for $11 shipped.

I bought mine off Ebay, so just search vishay 1822 and see what values come up. If you require different values than are available in that line, you may need to expand you search a little. Good luck as they are great budget caps!
