Anybody that's spent a lot of time with with good bench equipment and designing can tell you that you are flat wrong in believing measurements tell all!

More generally, techs will relate that the technical measurement can tell you if something is wrong and in some cases even suggest why it sounds like it does, but to know what equipment really does right...you listen to it!

You seem to be trying to extend the value of listening to saying that measurements are a waste of time. I've never heard a designer say that.

I never said "tell all". Why do you say that?

I strongly believe that quality measured data (distortion, frequency response, wattage....) of an amplifier can define the audio experience.

I don't enjoy the word games of he said - she said, so I won't be going there. But without using your exact wording, I said pretty much the same thing.

I'was just pointing out for the less experienced that believing that measurements can "define the audio experience" as you do, could lead to great disappointment of where they've chosen to spend their hard earned dollars.

A so called science type proudly says... "I do realize that I would fool myself all the time, about listening conclusions and many other observations, if I did listen before buying. That’s why I don’t, I bought all of my current gear based on technical parameters alone, such as specs and measurements."

More amazing Internet Science Pink Panther wisdom..."My DAC has since been upgraded from Mark Levinson to Topping."

Well, trinkmarketc, it's hard to argue with logic like that !

It's been a while since CP's had an "Endless Thread" thread. I'd like to put this thread up for consideration.

Remember: get what you can with what you got, and enjoy what you got while you have it. And Stilly74, hang around will ya ?
    It's all good.

P.S. if this does become the new "Endless Thread", a good idea would be, IMO, to encourage the inclusion of "Cats on Rhoombas" videos.
