New amp with minimal improvement

the sunfire and adcom just sound better..?........
That's a hell of a back up to that statement. Why cause they cost more there for they just sound better. I do believe You get what you pay for,but come on 500 horse power is 500 horse power any way you look at it. Pretty sure this applies to watts as well. Maybe one amp to the other has a little different sound but is it worth the extra cost.? To me it's not.Its not that I can't afford to buy a "better" amp I just don't see the point . You want to change the sound quality- get different speakers -
I'll just keep enjoying the sound I have right now and the extra money I have in the bank..... Starter gear...maybe...but sounds great to my ears
And that's all that really counts!
H9: If you don't trust what you are hearing, then maybe you need to be less invested in a hobby which all the pleasure comes from listening to music. -

They sound better because many of us have heard them side by side and compared the sound of each. Your assessment of audio in the above statement doesn't hold water. Get some experience with different gear and you'll see what we are talking about.
For now remember this;
"Those that don't know, don't know that they don't know"
Not trying to sound elitest or derogatory, but the fact remains until you put some time in this hobby and listen to a lot of different gear you can't really make the above opinions you've made since you have no background to relate them to.
If you are one of those that just want's to enjoy what you have and go no furthur, absolutely enjoy it!!! But don't turn around and start making statements until you actually have some more experience in this hobby.

..........500 horse power is 500 horse power........
Yeah, the next time that LS1 Vette owner drops his motor, I'll tell him that Cummins Turbo Diesel over there in that tractor is a better deal at half the price. After all, 500HP is 500HP.
I glad you found the wrong settings on your rig to get the most out of your new purchase. It adds nothing to the conversation about the OP's questions, and usually just sounds like people trying to make them feel remorse about their purchase. I used to see the same thing when SVS first got started making subs. The fact of the matter is that these direct-purchase brands are a great value for people to step into audio beyond what's available in your average Best Buy, and that's the demographic they're marketing to.
It's like if you buy a really nice Chevy that you enjoy driving. You're always gonna have wise-asses saying you should have bought another more expensive car because it's qualitatively better... but ultimately, the Chevy gets you to your destination. And if you can afford something better later, that's awesome... but for now, enjoy the hell out of what you have.
THANK YOU!!!

No, 500 HP is not just 500 HP. There are other factors such as the power band. 500 HP out of a built up 4 banger that isn't going to last long at the high RPM's needed to put out that HP is a lot different than a purpose built V10 that will do it with a lot more finesse and a lot less effort.
Just as the 500 HP specs on paper don't tell you what the reality is, the same applies to watts.
Obvuiosly, this is your first power amp and you are exactly the target market for a company such as emo because you don't know any better. The folks telling you there are better choices are simply trying to help you better your sound experience.Political Correctness'.........defined

I think some of you need to get a job or laid more often. All I did is ask a simple question that was answered in the first two responses. " recheck the settings in the reciever" done fixed. I never once asked for your big mouths to go off right away about I need to get cause its so much better. Take that crap somewhere else as its not helping at all with the question that was asked in here

For what its worth, I'm glad the OP was able to make the separate amp purchase work in his set-up. I have a used Adcom and a used Sunfire, and would happily buy an Emotiva in a heartbeat if my wife would let me. Just to have one and try it out.

Lol......Emo IS entry level, period.
But, as long as you enjoy them, that's all the matters. But don't kid yourself, there is much better sounding gear out there and I'd even choose Carver over Emo and I don't really care for Carver products at all.

Except there are some Emo owners on this forum that will never acknowledge that and think Emo is the 2nd coming........those are the one's I respond to. I think Emo is a nice step up from a low power basic AVR for HT use, nothing more.

The Dared Sl2000A is always a good choice, replace the stock Chinese tubes and you'll have a very, very respectable tubed pre-amp that punches well above it's price point. Of course if you are willing to spend some $$$ there are more choices.

Funny thread, proved a point I made a few weeks ago. Unless you're using 1K interconnects and 2h$ wire you should not mention the gear you have unless you don't mind being bashed.
Everybody ought to lighten up and enjoy what they have and be glad others can get a little too. -

Once again you don't get it. Are you saying $1K interconnects and wire don't make a difference and because you feel they don't make a difference then those of us who do should jus t keep quiet when other people state that Emo is the pinnacle and it doesn't get any better and we are fools for spending money on higher end gear and cables????
If that's the case then you can STFU too, why is your position superior to anyone elses? I can speak for myself and say I wasn't bashing anything, just stating that those who have very little actual experience in this hobby go off half cocked making statements to the effect there is no better than their newly aquired amp, are just plain naive and really don;t have any experience to draw that conclusion.

And most if not all Adcom, Outlaw, Rotel is entry level as well. hell even Parasound has entry level gear. There is only a few pieces of gear from Adcom and Rotel that I would take over the Emotiva gear in the same price range, not "EVERYTHING" from these company's is better then Emotivas gear.
Just my opinion and I'm not a big fan of Emo.. -

Emo has a house sound that I dislike very much. Different strokes for different folks........
Kia has entry level and so does BMW, that doesn't mean the Kia is every bit as good as the BMW. I'd take just about anything form the above brands over Emo, even if it cost more used than new Emo.
That is my personal opinion, not sure why it's so contraversial or why that means I'm some sort of elitest. I have a Dared pre-amp there are guys here still laughing at me for that...........are my panties in a wad? Nope.
Could I do better? Yep. Can I afford better? Yep.

I didn't post to argue just converse, I have always liked your budget approach and willingness to search for something better. I just don't feel everything is better then what emo has to offer, there is only one maybe two preamps from Adcom that I would want to own and I own one of them, almost all there other offerings are grainy IMO. -
