John sounds like it could be fun but I don't think anyone's going to want to be around me for the next couple weeks as I'm going to try quitting smoking (again:redface:) and tomorrow is my quit date. Your boards are going out in the morning along with everyone else.

No problem, thanks. Good luck...quitting smoking can be a beeotch.

I quit smoking in 97 when I was 42 but I had to stop drinking too because every time I tried before I would grab a cold one then a smoke. My wife had 4 patches left from her quitting and that got me past the edginess days then it was peppermint candy till my teeth almost fell out

My man Tony...received my boards, today, and they arrived safe-and-sound. It'll be several months before I'll be able to use them, but I can't wait to upgrade my CRS's.

How's the quitting smoking going for you? My wife kicked the habit over 10 years ago and she still has an occasional dream about smoking. Quitting isn't easy, but she hasn't regretted it one bit. Hop on the forum and post a grouchy rant if you need to. I'm sure everyone will send some encouragement your way if you need it.

    Thanks for the boards!

    John

The Boards care officially up for sale here For Sale: SDA Custom PCB's Round 2

Thanks to everyone who pre-ordered, You all should be getting them any day now.

Quitting smoking? Well so far it's sucked but if I can hang in there for a couple more days I think I might actually do it this time. I am really determined to get this done I'm so sick of smoking and the cost money and health wise is so retarded I just don't have a choice anymore.

Yea I hope you make it.
The thing that helped me too was my wife would not let me smoke in the house, garage or outside
was ok and at work I had to go out in the shop, no smoking in the office
and I had bought a new car and didn't want to stink it up.
So it was getting to the point I really had to go out of my way to burn one!

This is exactly what I was doing in getting ready to quit. For the past 6 months I've had only one spot to smoke that was out of the way so if I wanted to smoke I had to drop everything and go there. This alone cut my smoking by a third.

Rather than using the inductors off the original boards is there anyway to make or purchase them.
I would like to leave the original boards intact.

Why in the world would you want to do that?

I don't know maybe if I ever sell them or screwed these up I could fallback.
Everything else is new so I just thought it would be nice for them to be too.
I would not have to unsolder them either.

Since you are so afraid of **** them up, find someone that knows what they are doing to do them for you.

Well also the downtime for the exchange can be tough
unless I put one set on roller dollies so I can use them till I finish the other set.
I heard un-soldering can be tough. If I can find a few pictures I will be fine.

Not an expert--just an occasional tinkerer with electronics. This is all I've needed. Simple, cheap, easy, effective.

If you feel your soldering/un-soldering skills are not up to the task, might I suggest you practice on an old piece of junk gear or go to good will and pick up a cheap piece of gear to practice on first. Just a thought. Also DO NOT CHEAT and clip the leads for the inductors!.

Tony has a good suggestion - practice on some old junk gear and you'll be fine. Lots of tutorials around, + I'm sure there's video on you tube you can watch. It's really not very difficult, especially the de-soldering.

May as well get your feet wet - once you do it you'll wonder why you thought it so intimidating.
