This picture is, to my knowledge, real-time as the operation was underway by the SEAL team.

They could've been watching a live feed from a helmet cam on one of the Seal members as the operation happened. Talk about reality TV.

Just read through this thread. I was enjoying my 4 yr old at Disney H.K. when this all went down, and just got home Thursday. While feeling the same as most Americans, I'm somewhat perturbed to see some of the dagger throwing at each other going on in this thread. I might disagree with the way some showed there feelings like this was a sporting event and we just won the gold, but I understand it. It was a job well done by all those involved, from the intel. people who put the pieces together, the planners, to the SEALS that executed it. I'm not a fan of the president, but I applaud his actions. I think it was a ballsy move to send the SEAL team in without talking to Pakistan, and if what is being said is accurate, less than 100% knowledge if BL was indeed there. Lots of bad things could have happened if he wasn't. I do not have full trust in the honesty of what our gov. tells us, but if the "deathers" are right BL would be all over the place with vid showing he is alive and embarrassing the US for all it's propaganda's worth. No photos needed, no body required. That's all I have to add, other than thanks to all our military, past and present for their sacrifices made and God bless America.

Just guessing but I guess the US opted out of a public burial:

    a. To prevent the 'muslims' from feeling that their noses were being rubbed in it.

    b. To prevent the radicals from making a public burial into an opportunity for a martyrdom rally.

The media here is really going to town with details on the event. Apparently, 47% of the HDD on Osama's computer was devoted to ****. I guess, when you're cooped up for 5 years in a couple of rooms, theres not much else to do .

I clicked on this thread thinking it was some kind of joke. Then I checked Yahoo. Reading it feels sorta surreal. Hopefully the report is accurate and that SOB really is dead.

    Really he has relocated.
His name is Bob S. and he is an accountant in rural Chicago.

The work unfortunately is still a " work in progress " we will have to spend much effort to get all of 'em.

Hopefully no casualties on any innocents end.

We should have first put his head on a stick like that Jason Bateman wanted to do in that movie American Psyco or like that Oriental woman in Hannibal Rising did to that fish market dude.
Then, hold for him a full Catholic funeral with a giant party in NY.
After any who wanted to spit on him do so.

wOw did I type that ?
I meant to just think it.

Actually, just ranting from not getting proof.

world events seem to be making it harder to sleep soundly at night. bin laden dead. if so, good riddence. but i feel there is something much larger than the likes of bin laden. i'm not sure when it will hit or in what manner, but if we don't come together as a nation, we're going the way of the romans. and by coming together i don't mean left or right. there will always be a divide. but the sense of America as it once was happened to be our only saving grace. as divided as we are today, how can we survive. and how can we expect the rest of the world's population to respect us???

destabilize the world...to me that's like throwing up the chips and letting them fall where they may. there is no real direction. but i can see more everyday that we, Americans, are on our own. i sure hope there will be a way to come together. we did for a moment on sunday/monday... but that's already fading.

I pretty much agree with this sentiment but for me the Giant Specter is what we've done to the American middle and working classes and the Economy. I 'fear' we're going down and only Draconian measures would save us. But I'm not holding my breath.

At least Osama is out of the picture and though we should remain vigilant...it's time to move beyond the 'fear' and get on with rebuilding what we have 'left'.

After a week of information dribbling out, it appears the mission objective was kill Osama Bin Laden, and any adult males who are with him. End of story. Once again, congratulations for a job well done.
