I ended up with a spare 10 footer. Anybody need a center cable? Figured I'd start here before I posted a FS thread...

I'm just curious, but what benefit do spades offer vs banana? Only thing I can imagine is that maybe the tension on the bananas might diminish over time. I've never used anything but bare wire, so banana was just a lot more convenient.

My ADS speakers will take bananas but they have to be offset or very short.

Got my MIT cables today. Can't tell any difference at all. Tomorrow I'll hook them up and see if that makes a difference. They look pretty solid but no more than the pair I bought off Amazon for around.....shoot I don't remember maybe around $20. I'm real proud of that little box.....makes me feel like a real audiophool. I like it so much I'm ordering another set for the coffee table.
I'd hook them up tonight but I'm busy refoaming some 25th Anniversary Advents.........what a mess!

Idk if those boxes are in that place for a reason, but it really sucks for monitor speakers. that box weighs down the speaker cable and bends it... I think I am going to leave the thing hanging over the speaker to not put stress on it.... is my concern justified or am i retarded?

Put another pair in my shopping cart last night but forgot my password. Now I read they're out of the short lengths:smile:saved me some$$

I got mine hooked up to my Monitors using an Adcom 555ll. There is a definite change in the hi end.......somewhat laid back. They've been playing about 4hrs. and the change in the top end is all I've heard so far.

Well, since you asked nicely....

Not sure how your speakers are set up, but I use velcro ties to support my AVt2 cables. The EXps, I just let 'em hang. No issues.

    Haha

Sounds good... I guess i'll let them hang, I might use the velcro option later if it bothers me enough

After a week of burn in I decided to do a little listening and compare with the IXOS cables that I've run since I bought the Rainmakers. I listened to The Eagles - The Very Best Of, Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road on SACD, and Spies - Music Of Espionage.

I noticed two things immediately. The top end is definitely brighter with the MIT cables. They're not so bright that they're fatiguing, but they're more in your face. The second thing is the bass seems bloated and out of control on some tracks. Maybe it's me and I'm used to the leaner bass that I had with my previous cables. I can't remember it it's track 3 or 4 on the Spies CD, but the bass was overwhelming. It's normally very strong, but I was really shocked at what I heard.

That's my quick review. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep the MIT cables in the rig or go back to my old cables, but at the least I've heard something different.

Can you better explain 'in your face'? Please use the images below to help describe the feeling:

Spades offer no sonic improvements but some like to just have them for having bookshelfs near the wall or they might prolong the life of the cables by taking some of the tension off the wire when its upspended by the banana connection

My ADS need spade connectors or bent bananas. Straight bananas won't fit into the recess on the back of the speaker.

Out of two sets I was two banana plugs shy. Called MIT and they are sending along new ones along with the third set I bought.
