SDA Custom Circuit Boards

edited January 2012 in For Sale (FS) Classifieds
These boards were designed to use bigger Caps & Resistors like Sonicap & Mills and work for the following SDA's with a single board crossover and a Pin/Blade IC cable.

SDA 2B (1987 Blade/Blade IC with single board crossover)
SDA 2B/CRS+ (Pin/Blade IC)
SDA 1C
SDA SRS 2 (1987 Pin/Blade IC with single board crossover)
SDA SRS 3.1TL
SDA SRS 2.3
SDA SRS 2.3TL
SDA SRS 1.2
SDA SRS 1.2TL

Now there are somethings you need to be aware of.
First: Mounting (This only affects the SDA SRS 1.2/TL and the CRS+).
Because of the size of the new boards (10" x 5 1/4" vs 5 3/4" x 4 1/4") the only place I can think of to mount them in the CRS+'s is on the bottom of the enclosure and extend the leads (P & R) up to the big 16mH inductor. Now that brings us to the SDA SRS 1.2's, I might suggest that you could mount the board on the crossover plate plug everything in and then slide the top in at an angle then move the whole assembly up so you can slip the bottom in and then bolt in place (it should be able to fit through the cabinet opening measuring 4-3/4" high by 14-3/16" wide) and if that doesn't work you could mount the bare crossover plate first then slide the assembled crossover through the hole for the PR and then bolt in place.

Second
: Let me ensure you that these boards are electrically identical to the originals with two exceptions, there is no place for the 750pF Silver Mica bypass cap(C4) for C3 it's not needed with the newer/better cap's you can buy today and nobody uses it anyway also I added a jumper (J4) for the Non-TL 2.3's & 1.2's to make things a little easier.

Ordering & Shipping:
  1. Cost $100.00 a Pair including shipping.
  2. These boards will be for Club Polk members ONLY!.
  3. Payment will be by PayPal (as a gift please) or USPS money order.
  4. Shipping will be by USPS Priority Mail.
  5. Just PM me your order and we'll go from there. Also once you put solder to these THEY ARE YOURS

If you want more info about the boards, schematics and what parts you'll need go check out www.gimpod.com.

Thank You ~ gimpod

Great contribution to the community, Gimpod!

But no love for the SDA-SRS's? (The originals, not the 1.2 or 1.2tls).

Ok, I just pulled the passive in my 1C's and the previous owner did an awesome job with Sonicaps, etc. But hot glued the **** out of the caps and inductors. If I buy these boards I'd probably go full tilt with Clarity ESA's, etc. Where can I get the stock inductors?

I have the dual boards and blade/blade IC. I believe my 1Cs are the transitional version of the 1B to 1C. Any experience/thoughts re. problems moving to the new boards because of this?

Thanks Larry, I Think there the same with only minor differences i.e. speaker, binding post & the IC wires are soldered to the board.

H9 "Where can I get the stock inductors" Short of buying a used pair of crossovers you can't. But there's a trick I read about on how to remove hot glue (god I hate hot glue) check out this link.

use rubbing alcohol to remove hot glue from nearly anything

JayCee I think it's very possible to do this, I have a pair of these dual board crossovers for the 1C's as backups and I believe they are part wise (in values) identical to the single board crossovers. If you can give me a couple days to dig them out, trace through them and work out a plan of action for you. You've got my e-mail and I'll PM you my Phone Number in case you need any extra help.

BTW: If you guys could please put you screen name and shipping info in the message section on PayPal.

Thanks a whole bunch guys :smile::smile:

I'm out for the day got stuff I have get ready for shipping.

Don't know the physical size of them, but they will be an easier fit than the stock boards. Hopefully you guys will start getting your boards by this weekend.

ESA's fit on the stock board with some stacking, you could probably get MR's to work on these boards using the same method.

Don't mean to gloat, but I got mine today (one of the advantages of living just up the road from where they were shipped). Man, they are beautiful and verrrry sturdy! Now they're just going to sit there in the box with the Sonicaps taunting me until I tear apart the old crossovers. Can't wait!

Thanks again, Tony... these are fantastic!

They sure do... I've never seen PCB's in black before. I was thinking of cutting a window into the speaker cabs and replacing it with some lucite and badass red LEDs to show them off!
