Been watching live video from Hawaii for about 30 minutes. Some activity but nothing major has shown yet. Hopefully, that's all it will be.

News just said they blew the tsunami warning klaxons in Oregon a few minutes ago.

The devastation in Japan was incredible.

Gosh, we just watched 2012 last night, its all coming true! My thoughts go out to the people of Japan, I haven't seen any of the video this morning, but it doesn't sound like a good situation. My brother in San Diego is about 2 blocks from the ocean, I hope that the warnings for the west coast are just that, warnings.

Just heard on the news that a dam burst.

CNN has it on a breaking news headline: Dam bursts in Fukushima Prefecture, washing away scores of homes, Japan's Kyodo news agency reports.

    Yeah, glad you're OK dude.

Hopefully Mike isn't getting swept out to sea.

I got a friend who is on an underway out of Pearl Harbor right now. The ship he is on is probably going to be diverted for rescue assistance since he's like a day's steam away from the affected area. He'll probably get helo'ed off to an airport in Japan and pick up a flight back to Honolulu .

From experience stateside in much smaller quakes, the comm lines take one of the biggest hits regardless of the damage on the ground. Too many people trying to call people, the system just overloads. Looks like Tohoku took the brunt of the damage.
