Music has been one of my biggest passions since I was about 12, but audio gear has only been a primary hobby for me for about 5 years, and hardcore only 2 years.

It's funny, I got the chills just as much listening to my **** car or boombox speakers as I do now out of my much more expensive and better sounding rig.

(I doubt it very much, though)

    Oh yeah - 47
And into the hobby since 1983, but seriously into it since coming here.
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

    Ricardo,

Why am I thinking of Sympathy for the Devil? Is it the:
I've been around for a long, long year, stole many a man's soul and faith
And I was 'round when Jesus Christ, had his moment of doubt and pain.

Or is it the "hope you guess my name" part?

Oh yeah, I'm 54 and my earliest recollection of "skin in the game" was when I got into a fight with my buddy over proposing to take his new "The Monkees" album over to the neighbors house and ask to play it on her Magnavox console - on acountta his record player sounded like crap and that console was amazing. That must have been the year the Orioles beat the Dodgers in the Word Series. What, 45 years?

    36. Got my first ghetto blaster when I was 12 with birthday monsy and it has evolved ever since. Been buying HT gear for the last 7 or 8 years; actually just purchased a B&K Reference 50 to replace my Outlaw 950. Just want to try new (to me) gear and see where it goes. Half the fun is acqiring gear and flipping it out IMO.

57 and on and off for 42 years. By on and off, I mean I've never been far away from what I consider a good audio system, just that other hobbies took priority.

Chasing gear was fun, but the best times have been with my fellow audio junkies of the RAS (Rockford Audio Society) listening to music. Get in a club, start one! If you want to compare gear and play the same song over 50 times looking for your holy grail, fine. Better yet, concentrate on music get togethers and find what your friends like to listen to. It can and will expand your music interests. It makes the hobby much more fun!

45 yrs old and into the hobby off and on since I was 18 and heard the monitor 10s for the first time. Unfortunately when I was younger I never had enough disposable income to be into the hobby seriously. But the past year or so I have been able to dive in and have been having a blast acquiring gear and have met a few great people along the way.

I am 28 and luckily was able to get into this through hand me downs and such when I was in my early teens. It is only the last three or four years, though, that my love of audio and motorcycles trumped my love of drugs and women and redirected my finances. Well, I still like women more than audio, as long as they don't mind all my speakers.

I'll launch into one of my "old man' stories,,,I am 62,, been into music/audio since 1964,, been into audio for about 40-42 years. When I was in the army,I was fortunate to have my own "hootch"(not alcohol) when I was a participant in the SE Asia war games,,,kinda neat little spot,,had a pair of AR speakers,,RTR,and a Sansui 500x receiver,so I was never far from my tunes/jams.If you were sitting inside, there appeared like there was no way out,,I had taken a wall locker and removed the back,,so,when you entered, you came in thru it,,one inside, you shut the locker, and I used to get a kick outta folks trying to find their way out,,as they usually left in a different condition than they entered,,quite amusing actually,,,then inside was a blacklite,,black walls, dayglo posters,,and the famous "Pig Whomper",, but thats another story for a different thread.I moved into tubes about 3 or 4 years ago,and never really looked back.
JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)
