Wow, really makes me think, and that is not easily done.

Age is 52, was much younger than ten with first stereo speakers in the bedroom.. Probably started with a little 7 transistor handheld FM radio at about the age of seven. Pretty heavy into the rigs during the seventies and removed from my life after marriage in the early eighties.

Giant reconnect the past two years and no coincidence I'm no longer married.

The Quadraphonic sound probably go me started. Before that, small little record players was all we could afford. Now I am a confirmed 2CH guy.
BTW - 56 and who knows.

I'm 39. I got my first gear in 1986--a Technics Quad receiver & TT, Realistic tape deck & BSR speakers (from DAK mail-order catalog). I guess I've been in the hobby for 25 years.

53 and had a receiver in my night stand at the young age of 12 I guess. Loved FM over the older radios of the time. But around 1974 I heard a huge system with a fisher amp, seperate tuner and a record player to play music in tandom with my friends keyboards playing through a Leslie in the same room. Just imagine,, 4-12" woofers, about 9-6" MW's And I believe a couple of horns in each cabinet to finish the highs off. It was awsome. I didn't do much critical listening in that room, just realistic concert levels sometimes...I was really hooked then.

    Conversations during those listening sessions..vvv

What....what did you say?..I can't hear you, speak slowly so I can read your lips... by the way....pass that ummm...yea, that's good.

Kansas and Emerson,Lake and Palmer were played alot back then since he played the keyboards to them perfectly. He had three keyboards set up in there that he played at one time.He was great, God rest his soul.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

I'll launch into one of my "old man' stories,,,I am 62,, been into music/audio since 1964,, been into audio for about 40-42 years. When I was in the army,I was fortunate to have my own "hootch"(not alcohol) when I was a participant in the SE Asia war games,,,kinda neat little spot,,had a pair of AR speakers,,RTR,and a Sansui 500x receiver,so I was never far from my tunes/jams.If you were sitting inside, there appeared like there was no way out,,I had taken a wall locker and removed the back,,so,when you entered, you came in thru it,,one inside, you shut the locker, and I used to get a kick outta folks trying to find their way out,,as they usually left in a different condition than they entered,,quite amusing actually,,,then inside was a blacklite,,black walls, dayglo posters,,and the famous "Pig Whomper",, but thats another story for a different thread.I moved into tubes about 3 or 4 years ago,and never really looked back.

I knew there was an air of mystery about you george.

Im 53 chronologically, much older physically.

Always loved music, always had some stereo, but was lost most of my life, and like everything else, never had much fundage for quality audio.

Got laid off one day from equifax, and it was like i had snapped out of a bad dream of working jobs i hated and settling in life, earned a degree in horticulture and started a landscape co. and became close friends with my neurologists, neurosurgeons, and their neighbors, made great money until my body fell apart, met an angel here in the mountains, my life straightened out, the road became clearer, and after taking care of the things she needed and wanted, decided to spend JUST A COUPLE DOLLARS on some audio gear, found an ad for some nice polk home theater gear on cl , joined cp so i could ask if they were any good.about two years ago.

I went into all this because you never know when a little of you, shared with others, could wake someone up,life is for living, do somethin fun, if it stops being fun, do something else, its all going to be over very soon, hurry.

45 and I have been a music lover since my early teens. Finding this site has opened my mind to some new ideas and my next goal is to look at trying a tube amp.

I like listening to music so much with this new system that I actually went and bought a guitar a few months ago and have been steadily learning to play.

Now I have two hobbies to spend money on.
