Yeah! I filled up mine in the Ontario today. But I guess some rich city cost more coz the tax rate is higher and it cost more to operate?

It's crazy to think it has already passed 3.85 barrier before the end of February!

I'd happily pay $10.00 a gallon if all the non-natives would move to Texas or wherever else they came from. This place has the best year-round weather on the planet. I love it.

After I filled up today, I had to stop and get a shot of this (and a shot of something else when I got home).

That's my gas-guzzling XJ in the shot. She takes only premium.....

This is going to get a whole lot worse before it gets any better.

California really is a funny place - when we lived in the Sillycon Valley in the late 1980s, gas prices in CA were among the lowest in the nation (even cheaper in Southern CA) - presumably because oil was produced there and (I believe in those days) gasoline was refined there. Gas was under $1.00 a gallon in the San Jose area in 1989 (it had been considerably more expensive in Baltimore, from whence we came, in the same time frame).

Regular Unleaded in CA was 85c/gal in 2001.

I don't know what gives that we now have to pay the highest in the Nation.

Simply talk of unrest has driven the price up here in IL from $3.01 about a week ago to $3.29 this A.M. and i bet by tomorrow A.M. it'll increase about another .10c. Specualtors ahve pushed the price up $2.10/barrel for oil since last night.

    Ouch! There goes my raise.....

You know, it wouldn't bother me but it's dipping into my audio fund. I'd rather my rig see the money than foreign pocketbooks.

It looks as if the local news [from post #1] was right on track. Here in Charlotte, we are hanging around the $3.25/gallon mark. It used to be that South Carolina was 25 cents cheaper as soon as you crossed the state line but not anymore. Diesel is already at $3.69+-.

I saw $4.09/gallon (ok, it was premium unleaded) last night at a Shell gas station in Oakland, CA. And no, it was nowhere near the airport.

Actually, for Cali, it would be the Native Americans, or maybe the decendants of the Spanish and South American natives. No one made it to the Americas from India. Although there's evidence that some Polynesian tribes made it before the Asians and Russians came across the land bridge.

Or were you being racist by calling "Native Americans" Indians? 'Cause they hate that, ya know. At least my Navajo Aunt and all her familiy do.

I love the idea that "native Americans" prefer to be named after the group that came, stole their land and tried to kill them. When they lived here it wasn't "America." The "white man" named it America, and now they take the name their oppressors give their land? And that's preferable to "Indian?" Makes sense to me.

Well, before this topic goes South, I'd just like to say that I have the utmost respect for the folks that walked America [as we know it today] before Columbus hit the shore. I respect their way of life and I wish America was more like them today. We would be a better country for it. That's just my opinion.

Quad, I had no idea they didn't like being called Indians. No clue whatsoever. Duly noted.

Kidding aside, you might want to complain to our government for using the word "Indians"

Oh Chit! I just thought of something. You might want to sit down for this.

Worst case scenario. The Middle East goes all to hell [more so than normal, you know what I mean] and then Katrina's big sister hits the gulf during the summer hurricane season.

Man, talk about bending over at the pump. Yikes! Keep y'all's fingers crossed this scenario doesn't play out. I'd hate to imagine what the prices would be.
