Is this basically the same as the LZ Complete Studio Recordings Box Set?

    Thanks

As far as what criteria? This has all the faithfully reproduced art work sleeves as well as discs from the original LP releases. Including (2) covers of LZ I the gatefolded LP covers, and the working "wheel" from LZ III as well as all the alternate covers of ITOD w/the brown paper bag wrapper.

So no it's nothing like the TCSR as far as packaging. As far as content it's probably the same, but I'm not sure if they are taken from the same set of remastered material. Earlier in this thread there are some links about the sound.

Did you look at the photos in post #92..................far, far more impressive than TCSR and cheaper too.

I did not get an email confirmation when shipped and they did not update the status of the order online.
I phoned them on Monday morning and they mentioned that they allow 30 days to Canada before looking into anything.
I got mine in the mail on Monday and it took 26 days to arrive. give them a call and they will tell you when it shipped out.

Nope, no shipping notice here, either, they just showed up in the mailbox. Packed OK, no damage to the outer display box. Nice package.

Lacking in bass compared to what?

On the first album it seems like there is not enough bass response. Like somebody messed up with the recording. The overall sound of the recording of the first album is just lacking in bass response.

On LZII the sound was much fuller and there was more bass.

So you're asking about the bass compared to other LZ titles or compared to other versions of LZ I that have been released?

That's where I was confused and asked "it lacks bass compared to what?"

I have 3 versions of LZ I on cd and they have about the same bass so it's the recording.

My wife just called me at work.
    My set came today.
She had to pay $20.00 for some kind of tax.
Any of my fellow Canadians get this extra charge?

No charge for me on the Zeppelin shipment. I do get charges the odd time from Canada Post, lately I've been lucky. The charge would be $5.00 handling charge from Canada Post and then the duty/HST.

Las, don't you read the product descriptions before you buy something or use google ? The 1st pressing of LZ I was in a different colored cover. The subsequent pressings were in another color. They included both covers as well as all the ITTOD covers that have a different perspective sitting in the same seat of the bar.

I have also read that the ITTOD covers have the water color treatment as well.

The first thing that anyone who purchased this box set needs to do is order replacement "**** bags". The original ones are terrible....the glue on the strip is too strong and the plastic is too thin causing the damn things to rip.

Wes at www.soundsourcecds.com sells high quality replacements, actually made in Japan.

Well... I made it all the way to Houses of Holy before I shredded my first plastic sleeve trying to open it. Went ahead and ordered the Max Non reseal sleeves from the Ebay store associated with your link. Thanks.

The Japanese invented them, hence the term **** bag. Go into any CD store and ask for **** bags and they will know exactly what you mean.

I will open each bag once to rip to my music server and then, like all my discs, they will go into storage. It's not a big issue with me because I won't be opening and closing the bags.

If it was I'd ask at the record counter for some ****-bags, and they'd know what I was talking about.

I got these last night. Its pretty obvious why reviews vary from great to terrible. These are a different animal than the original release.

The originals were a work of art, not a great live sounding performance. Bass lacked punch and treble rolled off but they had great holographic imaging. The mix was not intended to be a live sounding performance, it was more of creating a special place with a lot of depth and takes you to another dimension.

This new release is the total opposite. This is a live sounding band coming from these discs. The bass is very punchy, the upper midrange and lower treble are very biting and the stage width is much wider. Gone is a lot of the depth and forget going into that other dimension. For example of depth look at whole lotta love. When all the spinning around starts it is now an oval in front of me, not a circle going around me as on the old releases. Did I say biting treble? Its just about as biting as I can take and my speakers do not bite unless told to. Luckily its not beyond the level I can stand.

Are you reading this review thinking I didn't like it? I do, very much. You cannot connect between the old and the new mix, they do different things. When I want to hear Zeppelin, the band, I'll listen to these. When I want to transport myself into an awesome fantasy land filled with musical stories, I'll drop the needle on one of the old mixes. Any Zep fan who doesn't like both may not be a real Zep fan. I highly recommend this set at twice the price, no second thoughts.

Edit: Oh, and I need to order some of those **** thingys too, the 4th one I opened ripped apart.
