You can say I am talking it up or whatever - but proof is in the pudding and alot of people agree with me.

Ty's speakers with the combination of these mods

    Tweeter network - Clarity MR
    Woofer Network - Clarity SA
    Good resistors

    No-Rez lined enclosure

    Diffraction-be-gone

    Competes in the $20,000+ range.

And I whole heartedly agree based on speakers I have heard at that point and beyond. The drivers that Ty used in these speakers are used in speakers that cost far far far*** more.

Im definately interested, but I would have to wait till the funds will allow the upgrade. I just purchased new audio art interconnects and a ps audio dac.

The thing is.. I spent 1k on the speakers. Would the 800 dollar investment really be worth it???
From what I heard with the difference in Treys Super Towers I can say with 100% certainty, yes. My God, yes. Had I done this when I had the 7U's myself, I probably wouldn't have upgraded to the Linbrooks.

I'll be doing the same thing to the Linbrooks here shortly as well and my ears are looking very forward to it.

George...you are in for one hell of a treat, my friend.

Tom - I am almost certain if I had upgraded my 7u they would still be here.

Wait till you hear the Taylo References that are here -- they are way different than the super towers, but judging from the imaging on the left side - dare I say they image better than the Super Towers??

My 7u's have the revelator tweeter. Would that make a difference in what you recommend for my crossovers?

What is the best site to purchase from? I plan to do this myself eventually. I have some old sony towers that are 15 years old. I plan to use them as my guinea pig. Im going to replace a few things on them and see how it goes. If it goes well then I will upgrade the 7u's. Whats a cheap upgrade for the sonys? I dont use them, they came with a all in one stereo. I wouldnt mind making them worth having. But as they are now, old and beat up, they sound terrible in comparison to what im use to.

I got the clarity's from Madisound,,the Mills from Sonicap if you are just gonna' learn/upgrade/solder etc,, try some Dayton's or something along that line. The only other advice would be to take your time as you go--which is exactly what I'm doing with the Tylers--I'll start a thread when I'm done and satisfied with the results--have fun and most of all--enjoy.

Just wanted to say that you need to check your speakers before ordering parts. Ty's speakers vary over time and they are not always the same.

    Just a FWIW.

I am really digging the differences with mine! Immense depth would be an understatement on the left side. Gotta get with it and do the right side!

    Interesting!!

Ty used 25 watt resistors in two of the places on your boards in my monitors. WEIRD!

    Interesting and weird indeed!

    Vr3MxStyler2k3,

Have you worked on any BP7000SC's crossovers or CLR3000's? I'm interested in what you can do with them. The speakers sound a little thin probably like how your Studio Monitor might have sounded...?

    Thanks!

I would no issues with your crossovers.

I would be happy to work on them!

    There is MUCH* potential there!

Cool, I have some pictures of the crossover. The speakers are bipolar, so I would imagine it might be a little more complicated. Can I email you the pics and get a recommendation? If so, can you please provide your email?

Basically I'm looking for a very "transparent", but with some weight to the sound. Nothing to laid back or overly live sounding. I'm finding the sound to be a little thin before the builtin powered subwoofers take over.

Apperently I can't PM unless I post atleast 10 post lol, I might be able to reply if you PM me though...

    Thanks!

Actually it is still pretty simple I have modified a few bipolar speaker (BP30, etc) - they are just two way speakers.

    vr3mxdmicblce2k7 @ gmail dot com

I would go with Auricap, Dayton and Mills on yours -- I like the combo.

Yep--all the resistors in my original boards were 10 watt Eagle's,,I replaced them will Mills 12 watters,,I was able to get exact values for the caps except two,,I'm using a 3.9 instead of a 4uF and a 6.2 insted of a 6uf--I think I'll be ok--but I'll know in a day or so.
