I don't understand why you would have to snap them into pieces. I have the passives here to match the rings too, and if using the template it should go in snug like the rest. I knew some mods would have to be done on some due to the bracing in the cabinets. If I can get pics and maybe some paper templates I can make this easier for some down the road.

I'm glad you got them in, and you'r happy with them..

    Thanks,

    Larry .

Larry, did you see the picture of the driver ring I cut in the 3.1TL thread? Also, I made a (somewhat crude) paper template for the ring that will work in the 3.1TL's. Please PM me your address and I will mail it to you.

Template wouldn't fall into place. About 1/4" too long in diameter. I'm sure there were slight variations over the course of a couple decades.

It's not a big deal. Plug&play is of course optimal, but it worked out. Just thought I'd give a heads up.

These were easy to install and here is what I noticed in the 1st few hours of listening:

Better transition from the mids to the bass - seems to be more clear and precise.
The deeper bass hits a bit lower with more authority.

Very subtle improvements, but still noticeable.

My new spikes should arrive tomorrow...I'm like a kid in a candy store!

Make more Larry! I want some for my SDA-2B's.

Has any one installed these on Monitor 10s because the passive guide was to big wouldn't even fit, but the driver one fit and I drilled it only to find out the cabinet brace will not let me install the ring, unless there's something I over looked, besides the cabinet brace.

my driver rings were cut on one side to fit my 1C's,, not to difficult,,but I did have to trim some of the glue from the brace in order for it to fit.

You too? I think our training and habits tend to make us over think solutions. I work for the Navy on future technology and sometimes the simple answers are too simple!

I did not have to cut the rings,, just trimmed some of the glue where the brace/joint is, the rings popped in,,helps if you use the small "c" clamps,,doing the other speaker today, should go much faster.Good luck.

So the install on the 1C's is straight forward, no mods or other things to worry about.

No mods needed...unless say your bracing in the center of the cabinet is off to one side or another then it may require a bit of tweaking the rings or the brace.
It is easy and took my about 2 hours, but I took my dear sweet time.

Nope,, like conrad said,,you may need to tweak the inside upper mids(mine) if the center brace is not perfect,,but it's no big deal,,just take your time and stay comfortable/relaxed when you do it,,btw--i'm buttioning up my last one.I'll report back in a tad.:)

Brock yours should go in like Eric said, Mine was the same way.

Next Round will start soon, My main focus is taking care of Janne in China first. Had a couple hiccups in getting the order out on time. Short on bolts and me taking time off work..

This is my public apologie on Janne's part..

All 6.5 rings will have the flat side to them from here on out. It seems that all models need them except for the 1.2/tl SDA SRS, 2.3/tl, SDA2's, and the CRS's.
