JL makes some good stuff, I simply cannot afford those kinds of subs so I have to make my own. That is one nice sub though, congratulations!

Have you heard the Epik Empire? Just wondering where it would fit on your sub scale... Mainly compared to the SVS....
    Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
    Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
    Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
    Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
    Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms)

Well, I listened to this pipe organ CD I have and it was phenomenal! I play my Tyler Acoustics full range then have the JL sub crossed over at 70hz and it really does a nice job supplementing the bass so music has more punch and umph to it. It creates a nice foundation. I'm using a Pangea AC-9 instead of the stock power cord. I still don't have it totally dialed in yet, like the phase and polarity. I even go back and for which LP Filter to use. So, I'm thinking about getting a Velo SMS-1 to help me get it dialed in. I've had one before and I really like the on screen display because it makes doing all the above a snap. I also had some doubts about whether I should have gotten the 112 instead of the 110. It seems to easy to push the 10" too far, so I may upgrade If I can find a steal of a deal.

Also this sub is making me want to invest in some bass tube traps to help get a more stable bass line instead of only in the sweet spot.

So, overall I'm very pleased with it and find it to be a superior sub to my previous Velo SPL1500 sub, although the Velo went lower because it was 15". The Fathom makes up for it with its musicality.

Maybe 2 F110 will fit the Bill, it would even out the sound. The two F110
    would also be very musical!

Perhaps, in the future I'd go with dual F110's. For now I'm focusing on upgrading my front end. I'm going to try out a Modwright Tube BDP-83 and see what that brings to the mix.

Next up is my Favorite Subwoofer on HT the SVS Ultra-13! The Ultra-13 is
one Great sub! Awesome on Movies and Good on Music(20hz,15hz modes).
The Ultra-13 has a Big Fat warm sound with great Output, this makes watching Movies very Fun:D. The Ultra can be a little slow on Music, but
still has a nice warm sound on Music.
I give it 9.5 out of 10 on HT.....8.5 on Music

Next was a step down from the Ultra-13, the SVS PB12-Plus/2. This Sub was
a Beast on HT, Even more Output than the Ultra-13 but not the SQ of the 13.
The PB12-Plus/2 a big hard hitting sound with Mega Output on HT. On Music
the PB12-Plus/2 can sound a lil Dry and Hard on some Music:( But over all
    a good Sub!
I give it 8.8 out of 10 on HT.....7.5 on Music

I saved the kind of Best for Last, The JL Audio F113. All of the reviews are
TRUE. This is one GREAT Subwoofer for Both Movies and Music. The F113
has a Small foot print but a Huge sound:D. The F113 has a natural warm
quick sound on Movies with good Output-and Hits Very Hard(not as big as
the Ultra13) On HT the F113 was on Par with the Ultra-13, only giving up
a lil on the Output..But it's a lil better SQ on HT. Now when it comes to
Music the F113 is the CHAMP-One of the Most Musical subs made today!
    I give it 9.5 out of 10 on HT......9.9 on Music:D:D:D

Danz, was your SVS PB13-Ultra the old or new type? From the SVS website, it seems like they did revamp that sub:
    http://www.svsound.com/products-sub-box-pb13ultra.cfm
This subwoofer had a tough act to follow. Our original PB13-Ultra was already one of the finest most sought in the world. But over the last 18 months our R/D staff has worked nearly around the clock with one of the premier professional audio companies on a amp platform truly befitting our world-class woofers. And new finishes arrive at last, including low-gloss black oak and genuine American cherry. Check out the sleek styling of the PB13-Ultra, it make for an alluring look even for a "super-sized" product like this. Hand-finished cabinets, and even a detachable magnetic grill for a strong statement with or without it. And of course, get ready to dig into a host of advanced yet easy to use LCD micro-controlled features that make our processor amps seem positively complicated and simplistic at the same time.

I wonder if the new PB13-Ultra improves its output by any way???

I have the older one with the 750w Mash amp. The newer Ultra-13 have
an 1000w digital amp. As far as output goes, I'm not sure. I would say give SVS a call to find out, they are very nice there.

One change that I noticed is that the Newer Ultra-13 has an 20hz, 16hz and
sealed. My Ultra-13 has a 20hz,15hz,10hz and sealed.

One would assume with the increase in power it'll give you more SPL, but I'm wondering if more spl is needed. Most owners I've talk to don't come close to maxing it out with the bash amp. I'm wondering if the SQ is different.

That's a good question, maybe with more power there's more control
    or tighter bass.

danz, today I officially join your JL Audio F113 club  The brand new dual arrived this morning, and I was able to unpack them by myself thanks to the adrenalin rush  I haven't set them up yet since I'm still awaiting the long XLR cable for master-slave connection, therefore the grills are still off as of now.
I'm pretty glad I chose the F113 over the PB-13 Ultra. There's no way I can hide that huge SVS box anywhere, and bringing in two of those would definitely make my wife kick me out  The two gloss black F113's fit the Lsi scheme nicely, a win-win situation

That picture makes them appear smaller than they look in person, IMO.

Regardless, congrats, those are some very nice sounding subs.

Sorry, I think the two subs, one on each side, is too 'matchy matchy'. IMHO, I think 1 off to the side would provide a more pleasant and updated aesthetic decor. I see you still have the boxes and I live in Missouri City - I'll pm you to pack one up and setup a time to come take the extra one off your hands

Actually very nice - I'd love to hear them. Did you audition them locally?
SDA SRS modded: X’ovrd, de-polyed, inductorized, interconnectorized, re-posted, dynamited, RDO’d, spiked, gasketed, ringed (Larry's), and grill cloth blinged! Done this on my own? Not a chance. Thanks to Raife and all who forged easy to follow upgrades. At least a 100% improvement in sound and my personal listening pleasure! :cheesygrin:Pass XP-10 preamp, Parasound A21 amp, Pioneer Elite DV-58AV (Ric Shultz modded), Audioquest Sky IC's, No longer need my Sunfire sub after mods...

    Nice setup!

Have you tried pulling your speakers away from the wall some and pulling them apart from each other? Closer to the subs should sound alot better.

Thanks for the advice, leroyjr1. By the way, which ones should I put on the outside, the subs or the Lsi's? If I put the Lsi on the inside and closer to the sub, its side woofer will be blocked a bit. Is there any problem with that?

Every room is different. I run my mains on the inside of my subs. You don't have to move them that close to the subs, maybe 6 inches to a foot might do the trick. Play around and see what sounds best. They just looked alittle close together to me but it could've just been the pictures.

Alrighty, after almost breaking my back moving these heavy babies around quite a few times to identify the sweet spot, I'd like to report that it's all set!!! For this room, apparently positioning the dual F113s near the front wall and inside the front left and right speakers is the ideal setting; I've also moved the front speakers, all 3 Left-Center-Right, away from the wall a bit more, making them on the same line with the subwoofers.
The first time I turned them on and played some heavy hitting scenes of U-571, they scared the **** outa me, I litterally jumped while the windows rattled big time. These Fathom subs really shamed my old MP4K.
The most important thing to remember is to run the AV processor's built-in sound calibration before messing with the F113's A.R.O. I ran my Denon AVR-4810ci Audyssey calibration, of course trimming the F113s level down a bit via the Audyssey's SW Level Matching. Then it was the JL A.R.O's turn (make sure to turn the master level back to zero before running this A.R.O, and afterwards turn it to the original setting from the AV processor sound calibration).
Geez whiz, tuning in to The Dark Knight, the introduction scenes accompanied huge bass attack, and my JL Audio Fathom F113s delivered such heavenly deep low frequency response, being crisp with the blue fire scene, then engulfing the whole room during the bird's eye view of the downtown buildings scene. My HT dream finally came true!!! Well, for now
I haven't tested any music since I'm too busy playing/replaying my entire repertoire of Bluray movies, and the next few days will be dedicated to my new set of Alien Anthology BD, therefore the music report will be reserved for next time.

I thought a good trick for finding the sweet spot for the sub was to place the sub in the middle of the room or near you listening position and then moving yourself around the room to see where it sounded best and that the sweet spot would reverse itself to the middle of the room or sitting position when the sub was placed in the spot you were standing. Anyone had good results using that method versus breaking your back?

Thanks to danz1906, I am a true believer in the JL Audio F113 sub-woofer. I recently bought a pair for my HT room and am amazed at the sound they produce for movies and music.

They do get very low and will shake the house if they are not dialed in properly.

A good DVD to use if you want to have some fun (with the F113's) is Despicable Me. Funny movie with lots (did I say lots) of bass.

Thanks again danz1906 for the F113 recommendation.
