Re: What did you do to your stereo rig today?
Some old Tandberg speakers. They work well in that space. Trey upgraded all internals.

Re: Need motor for Thorens TD-150
It's a pretty simple circuit, make sure the wiring was done correctly when the capacitors were installed:

The service manual for the TD 165 shows the exact same wiring for the motor, however the part number for the 150 motor is S 804-550 and the TD 165 part number is 7.861.017. This might mean the two motors are similar but the mounting brackets (or pulleys) are different.

Re: Most overrated speakers...
That assessment of the Monitor 10 is in agreement with what some have said here, but not all. I believe there are several people who have said they prefer them to the 7, even Stu Lumsden has said his favorite was a pair of M10 stacked on top of each other with the tweeters in the middle. Some people may appreciate the dynamics and potential lower distortion of the extra driver and lower bass extension and are forgiving of the lobing issue and it's effect upon the imaging and ability to move your listening position.
If the author was more savvy though, he would've recommended the RTA 11/Model 11 as the upgrade to the M10.

Way too rich for my blood. I’m good with my 509x that was significantly less.

Rosso Fiorentino Volterra and Norma IPA-140.
I have the Norma, so maybe one of these days I’ll snag a pair of Volterra’s. They’re my end game speaker.
Congrats!!!

New arm suggestions needed
No, it’s not an Ed Gein thread. (“He always had a hand to lend.”). I’m looking for an arm for a Thorens TD-150 and wondering if anyone has any suggestions. Also, wondering if anyone has an arm sitting in the proverbial closet they’d be willing to part with. The table currently has a wooden arm that was made by a guy in California until he passed a few years back but it has issues and it’s time to move on. Thanks. Don
