Re: Wireworld Gold Eclipse 7 Speaker and Interconnect Cables
These are really good btw. The rca alone is good enough to even double as a phono cable. That good.

The 5802 is/was a great amp for SDA’s, especially with a Dreadnought or A1.
You can run them with the Negs bridged,
but it’s on a whole different level with a Dreadnought..

Who is this guy?
Harold is an Internet meme based on a series of stock photos of András István Arató (Hungarian pronunciation: [ˈɒndraːʃ ˈiʃtvaːn ˈɒrɒtoː]; born 11 July 1945), a Hungarian retired electrical engineer and model. In 2011, he became the subject of the meme due to his overall facial expression and seemingly fake smile.

Re: New Adcom 555ms with SDA-2B
Have you put any thoughts on other brands ? I use a Parasound 2250 (bought here CP) & I've used Acurus 200/3 (now my CC & rears) . I was using Adcom 555 w/565pre & to me it was a upgrade. Mind you I didn't upgrade the 555 as you can improve it... On my 2b's I used a Yamaha CR2040 & they stayed together for 2 years before I gifted the 2b's to my oldest & she still rocks them today. Don't hesitate to research other options

Re: Veri Fi SnubWay......don't listen to music, experience it!
Immediately after install -
Noticeably lower noise floor.
Increased visceral impact of registers, especially in the lower regions.
More separation and quiet in between the images.
Greater sense of overall realism/palpability.
Definitely an increased depth, and by a large margin. More layers of sound to the reproductive effort and very 3-D in all directions, which make the speakers and room on my system not part of the equation.
Crystal clear sound with no leading edge and greater follow through with a natural rolloff.
More palpable timbre to voices and instruments.
Still some slight unwanted artifacts on certain frequencies on occasion. It's minor but noticeable to these ears. NOTE - these unwanted artifacts were gone after about 2 hours of being installed. It just dawned on me that I haven't heard it for a couple of songs now. NOTE 2 - After 6 more hours of continuous listening, these artifacts never returned.
When I mentioned depth before, it is getting better. Listening to James Taylor's, "Light 'em up", the background singers range from 9 to 15 feet back from James, with a very clear blackness between the layers of singers.
4 hours in, and this is just musical bliss. It's just so clear and fluid...like the music is dancing in front of you, around you, having an effortless and playful time doing so.
I have been having a sheer blast listening to music as of late, and this is also in part to another addition I have made to the rig. That post/shootout is coming to a post near you. All I can say is that when I first put this device in? I knew within an hour and a half after install that I liked it well enough to post about it on this thread. I don't think I have ever offered an endorsement on any device for my rigs over the years within an hour and a half. It was that profound to these ears, and I thought I would actually share my observations the second time I installed the Master Class A/C line conditioner with all of you.
Simply put, the Snubway and MC combo should be standard equipment for any rig. The enjoyment they bring to the reproductive effort table is probably the best value one would ever find in this hobby, even at quadruple retail.
I am no longer just listening to the music, I am truly experiencing it.

Onix Rocket RS760's
I am probably going to trigger some of the old heads here by even mentioning an AV123 product, but I was always curious about these, particularly because they share the same Vifa tweeter as my beloved LSi9's and 15's. Stumbled onto a pair, in all places, at a junk removal place for 200 bucks
Heavy, built like tanks.....dinged up but still just north of living room presentable, drivers in perfect working order......at the price and for the curiosity, I couldn't pass them up.
I recently built some Icepower 125asx2 (ICC5) monoblocks, so they are getting plenty of power....and boy do these speakers like it. I wasn't expecting these things to sound so good. warm presentation, lush mids, typical just enough detail without assaulting your ears, nature of the Vifa tweet.
does 2 - 3 hour listening sessions at well over 90db without breaking a sweat.....you just want to keep listening. DO I like them better than the 15's? hard to say.....theyre close enough for debate though. I'd have to A/B them back to back to tell.
I will patiently await my scorn....lol

Tinkering with the office rig.....
Finally found one of these worth purchasing (completed w/higher end parts). I've had the opportunity a few times only to pass (pun intended
) after looking at the workmanship or price or in one instance paid only to be refunded after the amp developed a problem right before shipping.

These are DIY amplifiers and are only as good as the builder's skills. I bought a pair to build my own mono's, but I really wanted to hear one for myself and being the impatient type as well as this being the "upgraded" version; I decided to get one already assembled before I build my own.
This has the rare smps filter since these run on 24V 5A Meanwell branded switching power supplies. 8-10 wpc while dissipating 35 watts per channel in heat, single ended Class A. very simple circuit.
This has larger and better sounding Nichicon KG (Gold Tune series) output coupling caps a few other caps have been replaced with hybrid aluminum polymer caps. A few resistor value replacements allow slightly higher power (couple watts or so). Basically the "Tungsten Audio" upgrades approved by NP himself.

I did have to make a repair on this ACA amp. The smps board (purple board) was not secured inside the chassis and during shipping one of power leads broke off. I had to re-solder and I was able to do it without disassembly. The seller was so apologetic even offered to pay to have it fixed at a repair shop. The fix was simple, but access was a ****.
I've also been running a Schitt Gjallahorn -10wpc discrete power amp. Nice little amp, but the ACA amp does almost everything better. Gjallahorn seems to have a bit deeper soundstage. The dynamic swing is much better with the Pass ACA. Bass is superd. Still evaluating as the Pass ACA is only a few days here.

I also finally came across a couple older Keces pieces that are superb despite their age. HA-171 which is a headphone/pre amp with 2 gain settings. And a DA-152 USB dac/pre/headphone amp. I still have a DA-151 USB dac that I've raved about for the last 10 years. Now that I have the DA-152, essentially the DA-151 and pre-amp in one, I'll let the DA-151 go. These use the older BB PCM-2702 chipset.

I'm rolling discrete op amps in place of many single channel LME 49710 I/C's in the (2) Keces units. I've had some of the New Class D op-amps sitting here idle for a few years and just bought some Burson V6's and a new Burson hybrid op-amp. They change the sound pretty convincingly. I use some of the same discrete op-amps in both my Eastern Electric DAC's.

I may use one of these as a pre-amp or I may move them along. Still evaluating. Maybe get a simple tube pre-amp. Not sure yet.
The R200's and RT25i's are still the main speakers. Starting the RT25i crossover upgrade this week. I'll post in a separate thread.
