Re: New to me 10B
I was able to get my stands completed last night. No finish yet, as I was excited to give them a listen as soon as I had them screwed together.
I had a fair bit of red oak shorts left from a doing a lot of trim work at our previous house, so these were built for almost no cost.
They're based on the Polk stand drawing that is floating about. The base is maybe 1.5 inches shallower front-to-back which saved me gluing up an additional joint. Seems plenty stable with the 10s.

Re: Vintage Monitor and SDA Speaker Deals
Hello,
we recently had a family member pass and are in the process of selling his belongings. He has these Polk speakers but we have absolutely no idea what they're worth. Can someone here provide us a rough idea based on these photos? We don't believe any work has been done on them over the years so as far as we're aware they are 100% original. Thank you for your time.

Re: Monitor 4 upgrades

Got the tops on the first 2 speakers ..
Going to let them dry a bit and then do the fronts.
I like how the grain on these look. I’m thinking to just use a clear gel

Re: Monitor 4 upgrades
I put a large chunk of open cell foam between the tweeter and MW, only I put it on top of the wool. I liked the results so much that I kept it, despite looking ugly (I don't listen with my eyes). I believe it helps reduce vertical lobing and comb filtering from interference around the crossover point.

That one works good. Fabric on fabric its pretty much permanent but on metal or plastic it rolls up like the gummy glue.
