Re: The most dynamic, well recorded music you have heard to date....
I discovered YELLO this year too.
I've bought more than a few of their CDs after I heard the first one. Some songs are musical experiences to wonder at.
Listen to POCKET UNIVERSE on a quiet, calm, warm night in a barely lit room.
I posted a link to the whole album here on this forum a few months ago. I was blown away listening through my Polk Audio SDA-SRS2s.
Here it is again.

I was reading a review of a pair of amps I think it was the other day, maybe speakers, and their cost...100,000.00 a pair. What did the reviewer try as one of the sample songs?, YELLO's "ELECTRIFIED". He loved it!
Our member Drew recommends this also:

Re: The most dynamic, well recorded music you have heard to date....
I got this one for Christmas from my son. I’ve always like Yellow, and I was unaware they had new-ish stuff out in the 2000’s
This one is spectacular. Musically it may not be for everyone, but if you like exceptional recording, DEEP bass (musical bass, not techno bass or canon shots on 1812) and fresh sounds, this thing is a treat for the ears - and it will really stretch your system’s legs. So far track 9 is my favorite, and has already earned a place on my top 6 reference tracks.

Re: Polk Monitor 12
You should never, ever use silicone to seal the inside of a speaker cabinet. Silicone releases an acidic gas as it cures, which can damage exposed metal parts, steel, copper etc., on the drivers and crossover. In addition, silicone doesn't really adhere well to wood or wood products. You sould always use either a water based caulk, or construction adhesive. Solvent based construction adhesives will work as well, but the adhesive must be fully cured, and cabinet must be fully ventilated before installing all the drivers, and buttoning it up.I have a pair of monitor 12's. was able to curb some of the boomyness by resealing the box with silicone, anding internal bracing to stiffen the cabinet. added more stuffing. mortite caulking cord for the drivers. recapping the crossovers helped a ton. On the sealing of the cabinet, the mw have a vented dust cap so you will never have a truly sealed box. I use these for the mains in my HT set up. I like the clarity of the midrange and high's I get from these speakers. (the recaping helped with that alot, before the recap they where a little muddy in the midrange).

Re: 1937 Philco Radios
It's very important to determine if the radio has a "hot" chassis:

Re: Review: Benchmark AHB2 Amp
Although I haven't asked Benchmark it appears the AHB2 is a fully balanced differential amp design, meaning not going to run Polk L800 speakers. The design is what makes it have such a good S/N ratio.
Yes it is a fully balanced differential amp. Too bad it's not a good match for the L800's. That would have been awesome!
As far as the design goes I believe it was an 8yr project with THX & Benchmark engineers. All I can say is that they nailed it!!
