Re: Looking for audiophile active speakers for computer setup

Great choice! I use these on my computer setup along with a Rythmik L12. I'm sure that you will love them.
Be patient after you hook them up and listen for the first time, they require at least 10 hours of play time to really open up and show you what they can do. Don't judge them too harshly right out of the box.
Congrats and enjoy!

Re: Sonance 10" Sub
Ya know, I only turn off the DD+ sub when I know I'll not be using it. The others are SPL subs that I leave in standby.

But there is a special customs fee and delay , it took me 30 days to gets 2 x 100uL (micro-liters)
and it end-up at $30cnd here."
I also saw mention that you can get Parts Express to ship via the USPS instead of UPS to Canada to avoid the BS UPS handling fees.
Not gonna lie... at that point i'm paying 60 bucks (ferrofluid + coil + i have to do the soldering work) to repair a tweeter when i can pay scammy ebay tax to get a fully functioning (with new ferrofluid) for 80. I will probably just end up waiting on a facebook marketplace sale and salvage those tweeters instead.
Thanks though, but I think I'm defeated for now
Somebody might be able to sneak a tweeter through the Haskell Free Library in lovely Derby Line, VT...
US and Canadian authorities, please note! I am not volunteering nor am I suggesting anything. I am just saying.

Re: Must try MOD - Foam inside the stamped steel baskets - YES!
But seriously, pretty different application and much thicker so absorbs lower frequencies and vibrations like you get inside a tire, but cool just the same.

Reminds me a little of my Tannus Armor inserts on my mountain bike tires. Quieter but mainly for flat prevention. Used to get a couple every year and haven't had one in the last 10 years. It was always thorns believe it or not!

Re: Cheap tube preamps
Sure has a lotta knobs.
Not my idea of cheap, either -- but, then again, it's kind of like saying "I want a Lexus, but I wanna spend way less money. How's this Chevy look?"
More to the point -- looks like a guitar amp guy's idea of a hifi (pre)amp.
The design considerations for an amp used to create music vs. one to reproduce music are nearly diametrically opposed. I'd wanna hear one before plunking down $.
Look for resales on the aftermarket and, if you find any, see what the going prices are like.
I'm guessing they might not retain value too well.
That said, it's probably ruggedly built
Heck at this point in time, the street value of the tubes in it probably dwarfs the cost of the preamp!
