Re: THE joke thread
A friend recently visiting Chile told me this joke about Argentinians. I take it there's a rivalry there.
How do Argentinians kill themselves?
They climb up their egos, and jump off.
Waffles??

Re: Polk Reserve R200
Personally I'd get the receiver and add an amp to it later if I wasn't happy with the stereo performance with just the receiver. Another option is to get a second SVS subwoofer to have a stereo pair.
The Denon 6800 has outputs for four subwoofers that can be managed separately which is a great feature to have.
Something like the Parasound A23+ would be of benefit for amplification, but there are better amps if you wanted to spend more. Parasound has a full range up to the $30,000 a pair JC100 monoblock amps:

Re: You’re doing it wrong…
The double trailers at night hauling furniture and US mail for me were the worst of the worst. They never lifted in our construction zones and a highway cone was often all that kept us from becoming another statistic. And knowing what normally sits behind those wheels made things even scarier. That's one aspect of my working life I do not miss.

Re: Post a picture.....any picture...part deux...
Here's the external power supply for the preamp, I built it first and used it with an Audio Research SP3 that I modified. Then when completed I connected it to the new preamp. I designed it so I could turn on the filament supply first, then when the voltage has reach the correct level (that's what the volt ohm meter is for) the high voltage power supply can be turned on. That avoids damaging the tubes, I haven't needed to change tubes in many years.

Re: What did you do to your stereo rig today?
Y'all lame...I use eneloops. Never had one leak in 20 years.
I do rotate and charge on a semi-monthly basis, polish the tips with Semichrome, and then rinse with the now banned solvent trichloroethylene, and then dab with Deoixit.
