Re: What Are You Listening To? (Part Deux)
After seeing SIHAB mention this last week, I had to dig it out of the dusty collection of my 80s rock collection (and rip to the server). First listen in 35 years...dang! Such a talent, especially when you read this background about the recording.

Re: Polk SDA-2B or 1C, which is better?
Once fully modified I've yet to hear a pair I didn't enjoy. (all sdas)
The 1c has crazy distraction properties with the tweeters on that wide baffle all by themselves but once treated sound absolutely phenomenal
I wonder why Polk would release speakers that had issues? Is it impossible to create the perfect speaker cabinet?
Most every speaker released from the manufacturer has trade offs to meet a price point. Chances are your pockets are not deep enough to get the perfect speaker in YOUR room. Let's say the manufacturer builds the perfect speaker in the perfect room, NOW you take them home and your room is far from perfect, is it the speakers fault, the manufacturers?
See where I'm going?

Re: McIntosh MC40 Find
That’s really interesting……
I never knew audio amps were used for things other than audio.

Re: 2.3TL refinement journey.
Bypass caps present their own problems and issues. Polk used them because capacitors at the time were not as well designed as they are now. Not to mention Polk wasn't using premium capacitors to begin with.
This is why the 750pf silver mica bypass cap is now omitted from the XO when using premium capacitors. This IIRC came from Mr. M. Polk, I omitted them from all my recapped crossovers including my 2.3tls.
