Re: NextGen TV?
Well simply, broadcasters must retain at least one channel of free, over-the-air broadcast programming. ATSC 3.0 has NOTHING to do with the receivers end it has EVERYTHING to do with the broadcasting end. They will more than likely have a bunch of nonsense that will come along with the 3.0, like DRM. Realistically there is no piracy on OTA so no need to clamp down on it with DRM, they're creating a problem where a statistically there was none.
While they must retain a free channel, they will eliminate ATSC 1.0 completely which has everything to do with receivers, the stream is different. That means you will have to upgrade equipment for FREE tv. The advanced features also require internet. They will lose many viewers. It really makes no sense to me.
FCC needs to require 1.0 to continue.

Re: Can I fix a mark Levinson 33 Monoblock thread
Some of you guys are truly mad men, I love watching stuff unfold as you guys do work like this, I for one wouldn’t get this deep, I probably would be the one to touch the wrong area, and knock myself to the ground. LOL!!
Great thread Trey..

Re: Noise.
@treitz3 i understand how noise floor plays in. But I have started to pull back from discussions that can create arguments. Not worth my time. I’ve decided to focus on listening. I’ve taken many measures to “enhance” playback enjoyment but it’s not worth the evangelist approach. If folks want to discuss they can reach out. If not OK.

Re: Noise.
Please allow me to put it to you this way...
Get rid of the noise? You may very well lose the merry go round of gear. I have. Without a doubt.

Re: NextGen TV?
Just imagine paying even more for cable because the cable companies will have to adopt some of the technology to carry the local channels, and still, if the industry has its way with this, you will be also be paying extra for each TV that has these newer tuners. All to "protect" the broadcast from piracy. How much of that do you see currently? It's not a thing.

Re: Height speaker recommendation for Atmos 7.2.4 setup
Hello,
First off Atmos do not paly full range ever. They technically could but nothing I ran across does.
As far as not needing to match the speakers to your system? Well that is actually true. Any speaker that is closer to a neutral design will work .
As far as your current setup? NO, I know your using what you got buy I strongly suggest replacing your Atmos speakers with in ceilings. If you don't fully understand Atmos and placement, I suggest visiting Dolby's website and learn about placement. Not everyone can place exactly as spec'd but with those guidelines , you can make decisions on what will work in your room as close to spec as possible. You have drop tile ceiling so this will be an easy install IF you know how to install inclining speakers into drop tiles. If not, you can hire a professional or learn how to support them correctly .
NEVER EVER do I ever hang any kind of key hole speaker on a ceiling. First off they could fall and that could really hurt someone and damage your speakers. Key holes are for wall hanging ONLY. Your at your own risk .
You will also run Atmos speakers in small so again , no need to fully matched fully spec'd speakers to match perfectly with your system. There is NOTHING WRONG with doing so if you decide to. This is a hobby and you do with your system as you will. No reason to listen to clowns who actually have no idea what they are talking about.

Re: NextGen TV?
For what I'm paying for cable I shouldn't have to see a single damn commercial.
