You'll never get the money out of what you put into modifying any piece of audio gear.
Yup. Like classic cars. People will spend year of their time and a tremendous amount of money for restoration and expect to make money on the deal. Do it for the enjoyment and personal satisfaction. Just remember, when you're dead and gone, your kids will trash them then toss them to the curb when they're done with them.
