Do you ever wonder about this:

Why is the Caspian sea called a sea and not a lake?

    9ihpelusqsxk.png

The Caspian Sea is actually considered a huge lake by most geographers because it is totally landlocked and has no natural connection to the world's oceans. People call it a "sea" because of its massive size, salty brackish water, and the ancient oceanic crust sitting beneath its southern floor. The Black Sea also applies.

The Black Sea is navigable to the oceans through the Bosporus so not exactly the same, but yeah, the Caspian is just a very large salty lake. One of many misnamed waterways. The Mississippi River should be called the Missouri all the way to the Gulf, but don't get me started.

The Caspian was not always land locked. Due to continental drift or upheaval it is now landlocked.

It has been land locked through all of human history so that knowledge was unknown until we got science.

My '66 GTO was also black with the same white interior. Mine was a convertible with white top. I miss that car.
It's been totally restored... and is still in town somewhere, it's on it's second owner after me. The guy that bought it from me used to take it to car shows. The old guy that has it now I don't think so. I haven't seen it in probably 20 years.

(I did not know they were that close when first post was created)

.... and from summit of Mt Whitney you can see Bad Water Basin but by car about 132 miles.

This Hawk stayed quite a few minutes in the birdbath. It is 92* today and humid. First time seeing a Hawk in it. It is a young one, though.

^^^^^^Beautiful scenery; We finally did the short walk out to Ellis falls a few weeks ago when we were up in the "lumpy country". Also took the shuttle up to the top of the big lump and also did Cathedral ledge. Didn't get any good pics from the top Mt. Wash; it was in the clouds and that wind!!!! Love that country up there and already looking forward to the next trip up there.
Edit; almost forgot to mention; a couple days after we saw the falls some 17 y.o. kid jumped off them. Those falls are 64' high and he had to be littered out with a messed up hip. Crazy kid.

Hail, hail, the damage is here... Little guy, wasting away, thinks it's an uber. The tint helped keep it together.

Popped the back seat out, rear deck trim, trunk carpet to get water dried up. Body didn't get it too bad, only five bad dings, one on trunk. It isn't gonna total out. Harman Kardon survived. Tempted to do it myself but gave my glass clamps away. Also an air powered applicator is helpful to ooze the polyurethane on.

This guy has a no longer breathing Dolph front plate on his clean Civic. I'm not a fan, just knew he was born in Chicago and read something about the Civic reference. Rapper Young Dolph passed away from numerous perforations while buying cookies in Memphis. "Sharonda always hold my sack, so I bought that bi$@# a Honda.....Civic, Dolph, you pitiful.”

Learned about these on first trip to Seattle in the 1970's. Lost in my mind since then.
