Not to mention, they are only about 85 miles apart from each other.
(I did not know they were that close when first post was created)
.... and from summit of Mt Whitney you can see Bad Water Basin but by car about 132 miles.

This Hawk stayed quite a few minutes in the birdbath. It is 92* today and humid. First time seeing a Hawk in it. It is a young one, though.

^^^^^^Beautiful scenery; We finally did the short walk out to Ellis falls a few weeks ago when we were up in the "lumpy country". Also took the shuttle up to the top of the big lump and also did Cathedral ledge. Didn't get any good pics from the top Mt. Wash; it was in the clouds and that wind!!!! Love that country up there and already looking forward to the next trip up there.
Edit; almost forgot to mention; a couple days after we saw the falls some 17 y.o. kid jumped off them. Those falls are 64' high and he had to be littered out with a messed up hip. Crazy kid.

Hail, hail, the damage is here... Little guy, wasting away, thinks it's an uber. The tint helped keep it together.

Popped the back seat out, rear deck trim, trunk carpet to get water dried up. Body didn't get it too bad, only five bad dings, one on trunk. It isn't gonna total out. Harman Kardon survived. Tempted to do it myself but gave my glass clamps away. Also an air powered applicator is helpful to ooze the polyurethane on.

Hard to see on radar on those early days, and, AFAIK, the Axis Powers didn't make missiles filled with termites.

This guy has a no longer breathing Dolph front plate on his clean Civic. I'm not a fan, just knew he was born in Chicago and read something about the Civic reference. Learned about these on first trip to Seattle in the 1970's. Lost in my mind since then.

Chief Joe "La Mouse" of the Bitterroot Salish (Flathead) tribe in Montana. The portrait, taken 110 years ago in the Glacier National Park by American photographer Franklin Price Knott. It was published in the National Geographic magazine in 1916 (at which point his age was stated to be over 80 years).
Chief Joe "La Mouse" shares a double-page spread in the 1916 edition of the National Geographic with the Hopi Snake Clan priest
The Salish were fond of ermine and cut the skin in strips to hang from all available parts of their clothing. The stoat, also known as the Eurasian ermine or ermine, is a species of mustelid native to Eurasia and the northern regions of North America.
Tiny, quick and quietly ferocious. Ermines are small but powerful predators. They measure around 13 to 30 cm in body length and weigh roughly 300 grams, but will not hesitate to take on a prey five times their size. Their slender bodies allow them to move quickly through burrows while hunting."Sometimes you have to look to the past to understand where you are going in the future"Harry / Marietta GA

In case any of y'all missed it, KEF's apparently just released (or is poised to release) another relatively high performing yet staunchly lifestyle loudspeaker product, modestly monikered the KEF LS Luxe.

There's a moderately lively thread Someplace Else
on these. A fair number of posts have focused on the design/styling of these.
I mention this here only because I rather liked this take on the practicality of the design:

PS Heck, it'd be a great place to park a pair of headphones, too -- wouldn't it?
PPS Note the straight from the Goodwill store pile of LPs carefully staged in the photo, too!

Keeps the cat from sliding them onto the floor.

The suspicious resemblance of the new KEF active loudspeaker mentioned above and the Minions was also noted.

Perhaps equally suspiciously, KEF is not currently offering the LS Luxe in yellow.
Perhaps they're waiting for a commercial tie-in with the next offering in the Minions franchise?
I am just speculating, mind you.

There's something perversely fascinating about the design of this new KEF...

Sorta like, who needs Dieter Rams or Jony Ive?! We'll get that bloke Colin down in the mailroom to design it! Oy, Colin! C'mere, mate!

Is she tall or is it that small?
Snagged from Just Cool Old Cars on FB. Subaru 360 Van. Wiki says it was nicknamed the "ladybug" in Japan and says production years were 1958-1971. "As the company's first mass-produced automobile (all 360 models), production reached 392,000 over its 12-year model run."

I remember Road & Track testing a 360 (car) a long, long time ago. They described its aesthetic as like a dehydrated Volkswagen [Beetle].

The Curbside Classics blog shared the road test at some point, relatively recently.
