Valhalla 2 tube combo - OTL headphone amp with pre-out

1960 - 6H6P - Foton, charcoal box plate, gold grid, square getter for the tall tubes. (very rare tube back in the hey dey of Russian tubes). These are like the Mullards of British tube world.

1961 - 6DJ8 - Amperex Bugle Boy, Holland, gray plate, large single post halo.

Very good combo, if a tad bit too lush and a tad slow on dynamic music. Vocals, jazz and acoustic is fantastic.

I bought it used. It has a brimar rectifier tube that came with it. It’s marked made in England. I replaced the other 12at7’s with a matched set of nos rca black plates with halo getters. Whatever that means. I don’t know squat about tubes😂yet. The dared is really great sounding! I love the tube sound. I’m always down with suggestions and advice! A lot of knowledge on this site!

The Dared SL2000A is the preamp that got me into tubes.

    I love it.

So much so that I snagged one for sale here, after I regretted selling mine on here YEARS ago.

It now lives in my work room and sees pretty regular use.

Very nice! They are very receptive to tube rolling. I wish I still had mine!

I've read that telefunken 12AT7's sound fantastic! But I've also read that new production genelex gold lions have a huge sound stage as well. I would welcome any and all tube rolling suggestions!

Telefunken 5965's ($$$$), Holland made 7062's and Raytheon 6414 black plate triple mica.

Telefunken are way up there now in price. I don't buy new manufactured tubes so I cannot confirm the genelex.

    Modwright Analog Bridge
    Currently running:
    Psvane Summit 6SN7
    Telefunken E88CC-TK
    Mullard GZ34 rectifier

Depending on my mood I'll switch between the 6SN7 & E88's

Also have Northern Electric 6SN7's that I'll roll in. I'm liking the Summits better but the Northern Electric are no slouches! 2tmu26jh3uv1.jpg

I think I still have a pair of Telefunken 5965's in my tube stash from my Dared SL2000 days.

Those have some hefty filament requirements.
