You realize the astronomical odds that you were born in this day and age with the capabilities of your species on an unbelievably unique planet, in a universe, formed out of the remains of extinct stars.

And here I always thought that if my Pop had rubbed one out one more time before I was conceived the odds of me being alive would have been astronomical.

You my friend... have taken it to a whole nother level!

You know you are old when you remember:

"The amount of smoking everywhere was unreal. In the '60s and '70s, and into the 80's the smell of cigarettes or smoke was everywhere: in homes, restaurants, grocery stores, workplaces, restrooms, hospitals, outdoors, and even on people's clothes and hair. The smell drove me bonkers!"

Oh, I remember the stench of cigarette smoke on airplanes. I grew up in the era of almost everyone smoking, so I was used to the smell, but the airplanes were particularly bad IMO.

I remember going to professional baseball and basketball games as a kid and hoping our seats weren’t next to someone who was smoking.

Yeah, it was bad. I started with the post office in 85. Half the break room was smoking. And crazy as it sounds, there were clip on ash trays for the manual case workers. They could smoke while they sorted mail into a case. Me on the other hand, I always had a paper cup with a paper towel in it for my copenhagen :D

    Both parents smoked.
As a kid I remember hating to go out to eat and having to inhale cigarette smoke while eating.

My dad's after dinner dessert consisted of two consecutive cigarettes stabbed out onto his dinner plate when done. When I started working at the lazy B there were ashtrays on the desks.

The changing of the clocks and the winter nights make me feel like it's 11pm when it's only 7 every time I go to the cu[board for some munchies.

Feeling sore after all the snow removal def reminds me of being a man of a certain age.

…when you head down the hall with a book (or tablet) to the little reading (or Wordle) room, and your wife says, “Good luck.” Then, once there, you set the exhaust fan for 20 minutes or so and discover that you need to add more time.

No time for that during the scramble. I'm happy to arrive safely and not unload during the dash. :D

I've reached the point in the arc of life that I now generally say to Mrs. H, "I'll be back... I hope" -- when I make that trek.

You know you're getting old when.... doing a 20Hz to 20kHz frequency sweep on an R2R, monitoring it with speakers, and the dB meter shows +- 2dB for both channels but you no longer hear the high frequency tones very well or at all.

I had a good run, 72 now. Everything else still works. :D
